i have a samsung drive in the original xbox with dual layer dvd's and an original halo 2.Can i just rip the files to the pc and make an iso of them with craxtion and play it with the sdg605b.bin flashed to the drive?and also what are all those other bin files in there,any idea?I am willing to have a go.

Yes, there's is some code in it, but there are 2 big reasons this can never work: 1. No CPR_MAI was included 2. $FDA0 (his patch location) never gets called |

(i don't want to waste a dl dvd-r either ;X) or maybe post a video of a backup booting and play on xbox live? lynzoid: can you show us proof?  |

When you do a filecompare with the original FW, you can see what bytes where modified. The main patch routine is at FDA0 and there is no call to it. But even if the FW was good, the included sectrors don't contain cpr_mai's |

Once in a while the author commodore4eva comes with another "hacked firmware" which always turns out to be a lot of BS. Just ignore this and move on...

Just a stupid/paranoiac though : Maybe MS is behind that guy cuz he is always releasing some interesting work showing some knowledge (but that's fake anyway) and putting his email adress with hotmail  . They want that people that have knowledge add him (before they check what he rlz) in their msn or mail him and then see if they can trace them. Well that's stupid, i know, but that's strange ! |

at least this guy is releasing something to us, im actually quite impressed with the progress on this patch. even if it does not work, it is a good step in the right direction and it will eventually work. im sure you guys didnt make it work on the first try. and quit calling it a fake, the code is there mostly, its just has a few errors in it. if you or your team requires assistance, i would be glad to help you test. i have a $#!tload of old samsung drives for xbox1. i will try this tonight when i get back from work and let you guys know what happens.

I've not tried this firmware because i don't have this drive to test, anyway i've a 616EE->605F and i can confirm that CDB command FF 08 01 unlocks the drive and game partition is accessible, tested under windows.

Just a quick note to the specialist and others
1 - No cpr mai - not required in this firmware, backups boot fine on unmodified xbox
2 - No call to $fda0 - a simple disassemble at patch point $8ffd shows the ljmp $fda0, to say this is never caled is saying the security sector is never read - is there another motive here - M$
A lot of timeand effort has been put into this firmware release to get familiar with this chipset for the next challenge (Xbox 360) and for the benefit of all being a public release. This firmware works 100% if you test it, please dont comment if you havent tried it.
Will release the firmware for the now software flashable 360 (Toshiba/Samsung drive) very soon, ill keep you all posted.
