taking a look at 4F00 this version does seem to have a key. i am going to attempt to take my key from my orginal ts and write it to the 32CE drive and see if it works with orginals.
Yes. People have been able to get those LG replacement drives working by writing the correct key at 0x4F00 and ofcourse correcting the checksum. De software sector flasher should do it. Simply write your key to this dumped (unscrambled) firmware, scramble again and flash sector 0x4000 and 0x3E000. flashsec_win e firmware.bin 90004000 1000 flashsec_win e firmware.bin 9003E000 1000 So doing this can get these drives to play originals, I wrote my key to the drive, could some explain how to do the scrambling, and checksume fixing. Would the firmware.bin you used in those commands be the scrambled firmware? thanks in advance. also does anyone think this would work, it appears the drive stuck in mode b so if I put my xbox by my pc and powered the dvd drive with the x kit and had the x kit set to normal mode while the sata cable is still in the xbox

Hi
So from what I can gather I can buy one for these 0032CE drives to replace a bricked drive.
I would need to desolder the tsop, take the file 40_32S.BIN (from GaryOpa FKPACK.RAR) and patch it with my firmware key.
Program the removed TSOP in a Willem and program this with the patched 40_32S.BIN file and it should work.
Is this correct or am I pissing into the wind ?
Regards

Thanks for the quick response
Seems easy enough
Have ordered a hot air desolder station, is there any good guides for begginers ?
I am an expert solderer just never used a rework station.

there is, you have to copy the flashing routine into ram (can't tell you which part though, sorry)

Anyone did the update on a 0032 drive? It will surely result in a E66

Has anyone tried flashing the v40 firmware via software sector by sector yet... I have seen that the flash routines can be written into ram so that the flash can complete... or is there any status on GrayOPAs new firmware...

I've send the drive to a guy with a programmer and he put 0040 on for me... The drive I had in a that box reads very, very well... it even reads discs that were not accepted by a samsung

Can this drive now be flashed with software? I noticed that the FWPACK.RAR now includes the 32_23S.BIN. Don't know if this has always been there or is new.

i've installed some 032 drives last days... they read very well!!!
i've changed original eeprom with a 512K one, with both original firmware and hacked firmware (version 040).
with FWtoolbox 3.0 i also apply spoof to avoid E66.
all goes OK, very well...

v40 is the highest you can go on PCBv2 (yours, supports v27 thru v40 firmwares). Once you have v40 on your board, you will be able to play x360 games using your mobo drive key. All Hitachi's are software flashable, but the reason you need to upgrade the firmware, as the firmwares v27,v32,v36 don't have the support for your mobo drive key, no AES encryption code. v40 was the first firmware possible on the Hitachi to support drive key and AES retail game playing.
