i put mtkflash on a xp boot disc..got to dos
i have a dvd burner on ide channel 1 cd burner on ide channel 2
i ran mtkflash r /m dump.bin and it prompted me for which drive
i then hotswapped the dvd burner on channel 1 w/ the xbox dvd drive w/ a sata to ide converter, powering the 360 dvd drive from the 360
then chose option 1 on mtkflash
i get "port 1f0 master/slave a0" and it just seems to hang there..i left the computer along for 30min or so and no other messages ever popped up
should i be using an ida to sata converter and hooking up to the sata port on my mb?
any help..?

@Helltick read the post from Geremia... you could try this: -connect standard dvdrom#1 to sata port... u connect ur 360 ts... -connect standard dvdrom#2 to ide port... u connect ur 360 hdd... -mtkflash R /M mydump.bin -mtkflash asks wich of the 2 drive to use, hotswap here dvdrom#1 with your TS-H943, then select the drive to proceed...[/QOUTE] (READ AND READ AND READ.... ) Greets ChaosBoy

MTkflash MUST have the TS-H943 drive on a sata channel, not an ide channel (with sata-to-ide converter) So, you need also a standard dvdrom recognized on a sata channel to swap with TS-H943, so for example plextor sata dvd burner or any ide drive with ide-to-sata converter (by the way, my sata-to-ide doesn't work as ide-to-sata). sorry but mtkflash explicity doesn't work on Sil3112 sata controller, VIA works for sure (my case), intel should work as well (nedd to be tested).

no ms07 does not work with orginal games. don't flash it expecting better firmware. it is a buggy beta firmware. the whole point of this thread is to get a method to dump the firmware via software to obtain your dvd key. the secondary objective is flashing the firmware back to the drive which i successfully did with while running ms07. i think your find it is only to dump the flash not (WRITE at the moment) if you flash your drive you may kill it not flameing just warning mtkflash did work when flashing my drive from ms07 to ms25. the ms25 bin i had was the dump from my orginal drive with the correct key and when it flashed back to the drive it worked correctly in my 360. So those that order replacement drives from etech4sale and get a drive with ms07 can easily make a working drive for their 360 if they have their key from their orginal dvd drive. On another note. i have been trying the tiros method of grounding the eject pin on startup to get the drive recognized by windows. i have tried this several times and my via sata controller always chokes on ms25 firmware no matter what i try. i was abled to get the drive recognized by my my via software in windows using this method to startup the drive and then pluging the sata cable in while windows was running. i couldn't get the drive to populate though. I tried mtkflash win with ms07 and ms25 running on my drive and it didn't find my drive as a compatible target.

Just an idea, but did you consider my method to get the drive detected and working in Windows? I did try this method succesfully with the original LG Windows software flasher for the 8163B drive. Perhaps the same method works with mtkflash. I don't have a Samsung drive so I can't try. The nice thing is, the inquiry command to detect the drive can be faked and you can specify whatever inquiry data you like. The inquiry command seems to be the root cause for a drive not being detected by Linux / Windows .. http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=33&topic=663.0
