c:\ mtkflash r/m sata backup.bin There is supposed to be a space after the "r" before the "/m". If "/m" doesn't work, try "/sata" instead. Just run the same command everyone else is running from the drive/folder on your hard disk that mtflash is located. It should work.

just type "C:" and it should take you to the c:\ drive. If it doesn't, run "ntfsdos" first.
In dos, you change drives just by typting the drive letter and colon ("c:", "d:", etc). To change directories use "cd", to show files in a directory, type "dir". Sorry, might as well post these basic commands just incase lol...

it would seem that the media where the firmware is supposed to be dumped is on a non-writing-media (CD?). try redirecting the output to a floppy: mktflash r /m A:\original.bin

Silverpalm,
I am looking at the NF4 version of mtkflash rthat came with the firmware hack in a hexeditor, and there appear to be some differences. Here is what you might try. Open up the NF4 version (or the other one, doesn't really matter) in a hexeditor and go to offset 0000B3D6 (where the info for the current NF4 is) and overwrite that data with this (that data from your particular SATA controller:
DE 10 55 00 E0 09 60 09
That is the important part, as the bytes after that are the name (and the name is basically the same).
Anyway, you might want to try that, see if it works.

You see B3D4, that is the first 2 digits/letters on the line. Each 2 letters/numbers in a row like that counts as 1, so in your case for example it should look like this:
0000B3D4 0000 DE10
The bolded part is where you need to start, ie --> 0000B3D6
another way you can do this....(I am using hex workshop) you can hit ctrl + g and this will open up a "go to" menu. Then you select hexidecimal number 0000B3D6 and make sure the tab box below is set to "from beginning" or whatever.

Have you tested it yet to see if that fixes your problem?

That is weird, should either be in the same folder on your PC that you ran mtkflash out of or it should be on the floppy that you ran mtkflash off of

I have heard of people trying multiple things.../m or /SATA....stuff like that. Also, you might want to make sure that no other drives are connected because they can cause complications.

I had a similar problem last night when I was attempting to flash my drive using my onboard Nforce4 SATA controller. 1. be sure that you have disabled the RAID function for the SATA port that you are using. 2. try cycling the power on your computer (I assume that you have already done this a few times, but I never know). and lastly try what I did 3. Plug the drive back into the 360 and boot it up with all cables attached, after it has booted, turn it off and try again. I don't know if it was because I had to cycle the power or what, but it worked after that. I also built a power adapter because I didn't want to bring my power brick into my office, I don't have a big enough truck to carry that monster. I hope that you get it figured out. Good luck!
