Hey guys!  Wink
Well after 2 days of reading most of the board about the dumping of the org firmware and all the problems some ppl had, and wich chipsets won´t work etc.. and almost 2 days of trying to dump my firmware..
i had to register and ask..

My problem is i got a MSI-945P Neo with intel ICH7 chipset, it detects the drive in bios as 4th master ide drive, but won´t be able to flash it as u know it mtkflash won´t detect it..
I really tried it myself to resolve the thing with all infos i got here, but i´m stuck hehe.. my question now:
Is there any1 that could help me to patch mtkflash for my chipset ? Or gimme a short "how to" in private, i would really apriciate it guys..

Thanks in advance,
Seth  Wink
Cool
If you read previous posts in this thread; it will give a clue on a how to do a patch on MTKflash with new VID and DID parameters!

Hey,

Well as i said, it doesn´t help me at all... perhaps my english isn´t qualified enough to understand it all perfectly, or i´m just to dumb to c the hint  Smiley
i dunno but i never did such things till then, so i guess i just don´t have the needed skills to get it done alone with some "skilled infos"

Yeah, I prefer a technical discussion instead of all the 'how do I burn my ISO' / 'my drive is not detected' crap. I though this was a technical hacking forum but I don't see any technical hacking information, only warez kiddies.
sorry for being warez kiiddie i guess, just dont want my 8 year old kid to mess up $60 games, so360 really isnt fun for him, only able to play when i am there and etc. i am not a pirate, just broke parent. having spent over 1000 dollars for system + controllers + play n charge + games already, dont want money from games to be wasted.

I though this was a technical hacking forum but I don't see any technical hacking information, only warez kiddies.

I thought the WHOLE POINT OF THIS THREAD WAS FOR .... oh yea the title is "ts-h943 firmware dump by software"  ......   where would you have looked for help?

man i am tired of this whole elitest attitude from all the ops here whining about what they did and people asking for help... there are PRIVATE ways to do what you did, THE SPECIALIST didnt need to even post his results publically, his "team" of other pirates, yea pirates as they have all said over and over and over in "the big thread" and every one since "only reason to do this hack is piracy" so why even continue "technical discussion" on these lines?  I mean after the proof of concept was accomplished then why has everyone continued? because you are all pirates!

this remids me of the whoe DTV scene a few years ago where the gurus who wrote scripts talked down on everyone using them, "Freetver's" they were called. Once again they were pirates too, thats why they wrote the scripts. but when others ask for help or try on thee own then they were some how lesser people for just starting to learn, well it was bull $#!t then and its bul$#!t now

i think the real reason we are all "warez kiddies" is same reason we were free tvr's
is cause once a hack is released in the wild then someone has t o try to stop it, longer its just you the longer you can use it without being bothered.

well if thats the case then WHY GO PUBLIC?  for the credit, so all the "warez kiddies" will whorship you?

pretty sad really

i feel my question about flashing my drive...if had been asked 4 days ago would have been answered, but since the release of the hack then everyone is a warez kiddie, so now i dont "deserve" an answer.

i been reading this specific thread since it was a new topic, because it concerned the TS drive i owned, but apparently thats not enough, since im not one of The Specialist's "team" or friend or on his nuts like most of the ops here who got to be "in" on the hack in the 1st place.

Guess its true here like in life, its not what you know its who you know.

@MacDennis -
makes me feel alot better if nothing else... so thanks for the response, and thanks for the reassurance that you are here to help and to not just complain about the can of worms that has been opened....

sorry for the rant,

but now im trying to hex edit mtkflash and still working on it

Name   VIA VT6421 RAID Controller
Manufacturer   VIA Technologies, Inc.
Status   OK
PNP Device ID   PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3249&SUBSYS_32491106&REV_50\4&3B90381F&0&50F0
I/O Port   0x000024D0-0x000024DF

I/O Port   0x000024B0-0x000024BF
I/O Port   0x000024A0-0x000024AF
I/O Port   0x00002480-0x0000249F
I/O Port   0x00002000-0x000020FF
IRQ Channel   IRQ 22
Driver   c:\windows\system32\drivers\viamraid.sys (5.1.2600.310, 72.38 KB (74,112 bytes), 5/15/2006 12:57 PM)

is the system info fro the card i am using... is a via sata/ata133/raid card with 6124l chipset

card hangs if i leave ms25 drive on it while booting, no option to disable boot rom on card, mtkflash says drive not detected.
tried swapping with 360 hd and everything else i could think of, including disabling all onboard IDE controllers and everything ive read in these forums for few months now.

i been reading and reading and rereading about all this and almost swapped buddy for his 360 with hitachi drive so i could actually play with firmware, then Blue Cop opens this thread and gave me tons of hope... now im on verge of it all and cant do anything. make you feell real inferior, especially when people who know dont help

so thanks again for any help i can get

Peace to all i offended or whatever, and thanks again MacDennis for being cool about all this

Edit: after hex edit mtkflash works.... took me awhlie tho because the ports i mapped wern't the ones i thought, but hey trial and error rules!!!!

Hey m8,

i´m sad to tell you that the change didn´t help... i fixed the entry, even checked twice after saving if it worked and if its on the right place and it was all fine...
after booting and starting mtkflash i got the same situation always 2 drives
1 Primary ide master
2 Primary ida slave

i tried both.. it loads some io/m 1 bla line or something and just hangs .. nothing happens, same thing like i got ´with mtkflash not patched Sad
i don´t know how to continue really, i´m running out of posibility´s to find out why its not working Sad
If any1 else got an idea let me know please...

Hi ... i m new Smiley

at first thx for the hole informations about this nice patch. but now i would describe my problems and hope for help.

i have a gigabyte board with n-force 4 sata (4 ports) and my xbox360 is new on with ts (ms25 fw)

I plugged the ac from running xbox360 and the sata cable on port 4 (sata 2)
(its an onboard sata controller, in bios the raid functions was disabled)

my ts drive is found at bios, and with mtkflash it will be recognize. When i try to read my firmware with "mtkflash r orig.bin" (then i choose sata2) the system seems dead and nothing happens and  my xbox360 leds blink. on tv shows: DVD Drive open. (before using mtkflash it shows DVD Drive closed)

now i tried the hotswap trick with a sata harddrive, but then mtkflash will also do nothing and the xbox360 blinks again.

i tried all posibilties, detach my ide drive, disable ide ports, disable not used sata port and so on...

i dont know what i can do also to dump the fw.

helps me a sata to ide convertor to make a hotswap with an ide dvd drive?
or is there a easy way to desoldered something? Smiley i dont find an info about ts drive and desoldering.

sorry for my bad english... hope for help... Smiley

Hello,
i've got an Asrock Dual SataII Board with ULI Chipset. The XBOX360 DVD Drive is only connected by the Bios of my PC if i plug it on the SataII Controler with JMICRON Chipset. Unfortenetely the MTKFLASH program cant detect any drive, if i booted from a startdisk with it on it. The Error "NO DEVICE DETECTED" or so occurs.

Could anyone help me, that would be very nice. I spent about 9 hours till now in reading forums etc., but i still have absolutely no idea what to do.

PLEASE ASSIST!!!!

Thx a lot

if you had read AT ALL, you would have seen that you need to hexedit mtkflash to match your sata controller IDs.
I am getting seriously sick of reading about people going "waah, it doesn't work", when four pages ahead there is the working information on how to make it function.

I've done a lot of reading, and haven't heard anything to lead me in this direction, so the answer is probably "NO", but:

Is there any other possible way to read/write firmware on this drive other than mtkflash from DOS? I am just wondering if anybody knows of a linux flasher that will work, etc. Or at the very least, perhaps something that is in development?

I know we can get an expensive hardware programmer, socket the chip, etc, but I mean VIA SOFTWARE of course...

Now would be the time for X-Ecuter to release their "software tools" they were working on, huh, ugh  Cry

EDIT: If this mediatek chip is as popular as it seems, you would think there would be another flashing tool out there... Maybe not, since mtkflash is so versatile, but still. It doesn't look like it is possible to get the sources to mtkflash either... Looks like we might be stuck with it, and have to suck it up and buy new mobo's if we have too...

HERE HERE I bought a new m/b just because of this reason. At a time didn't realise the patching approach  could work on some other boards. If one has a m/b got sata bridge there is nothing to lose by trying it. In my case m/b did not have a sata bridge and did not want to risk in picking a board that may not suitable. So to be safe side suggest that one gets m/b with ic5, ic6 nForce3  sata bridge to be sure that MTKflash 1.83c runs properly. The gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 works like a dream!

I have a ASrock 939Dual-SATA2 board and both versions of Mtkflash didn't work.

I used the method in this post and it worked great!

I have the "ALi SATA/RAID Controller (M5289)"

If anyone needs any help with this... shoot me a PM or email neon_at_leeth4x.com

Hi all Smiley

I have a bug when i try to dump my firm.

Motherboard is Asus A8N-SLI Prenium (NF4 chipset)

Drive is Samsung TS-H943 firm 25ms (new firm)

The drive is recognize on bios and mktflash.

The mktflash detect but not reply after , i wait 10 min but do nothing Angry

We can see on first pict TS-943 is detected by the bios on first SATA Master but on mktflash is detected on third fourth device... Huh

I go to system info to see SATA NF4 and i edit the patched version of mtkflashNF4 with winhex for see if value VID> < DID> <primary port addr>  <,secondary port addr>  <text descriptor of VID & DID> correspond to my motherboard but all it's ok.

I try to disconnect all my drive; disable sata channel 1and2 or3 and4; change TS-H943 to other sata port 1,2,3,4; swap with maxtor sata dd.

I disable raid controller.

I try method with livecd slax but not work. Sad

I think i have the same pb of erikk.

Could try to help me plz.

Thx Smiley

Sorry for my bad english,i try to improve myself Grin

after spending a complete night and buy a ide to sata convertor, i found out it seems my sata controller will not supported, it is a nforce 4 ultra and all ports will be detected right, only the flash procudere will not work. i testet with several dvd-drives from my pc-action-package and at all drives i get the same error - after choose a sata port, it happens nothing.  Undecided
