Pull out all IDE cables except for floppy (if your using floppy), and connect the sata cable before turning on the PC and leave it connected, and use this command...mtkflash /sata r /m orig.bin

gigabite - hope that helps

forgot to mention, also don't use the samhack stuff... just use mtkflash /sata r /m orig.bin for backing up firmware and mtkflash /sata /m /w hacked.bin for applying hacked firmware

Is your MS28 drive connected to teh xbox still when flashing?
If so make sure you have a gator clip running to your PSU on your comp.
I have a friend who had the same problem, with flashing not reading though.
Could be the floating ground issue.

The error cannot read/open input file can appear when you leave the .bin extension of the file the file that your trying to flash/dump. e.g mtkflash r /m orig instead of mtkflash r /m orig.bin

The reason I added the /sata command was so the drive could be detected.  Sometimes you cannot flash a drive without the /sata in my personal experience.

I don't have a problem with using the /sata command Gigabite mate. In fact like you said some people need it to flash/dump their drives firmware. I was just making an example with that command of how easy it is to leave the .bin extension of the end.

Wink Yeap noticed that finally someone who doesn't flame people at every opportunity they get... as scrano basically said you must add the .bin after the command
