Hello,
I'm currently staying in South-East Asia for a while and i bought me a Xbox, and as usual here It is Modified in a way - but thats exactly my Problem, I have no Idea what they did with it. I was quite happy about the fact that its Modified - because then I would be able to play the PAL Games once I'm back in Europe, but when I heard about the DVD-firmeware hack now I'm not so sure about that any more. Is there a way to find out what they did with my Xbox? (Without opening it).
Does anyone know what happens if I go online and Update the Xbox or play on Xbox-Life? (with ORIGINAL games).
The guy in the shop told me that everything is no Problem - but I'm not so sure about that. (espeacially if there's a mod-chip in it as he told me!)
Thanks for ur help!

just put a pal backup in it, if it runs its not a firmware hack but a softmod or hardmod.
if one of those two just put in a disc with a bios check tool. you can find these on xbins.
if it tels you you have an original bios then it is softmodded if it teld something els its hardmodded with a chip or there are some points soldered together to enable wrighting to the TSOP.
if its not an original bios you are not safe on xbox-live.
and if you would read around a little bit you would know this already

It is a Xbox 360. Sorry for that.
Softmod n hardmod sounds very familiar to me with my old xbox or does it apply for the new one too? I softmodded my old one and Installed Linux on it. that was a lot of fun :-).
@revolt are u talking about the xbox one or 360?

there's no region hack for the 360 and won't be until the system is fully hacked.

No region Hack at all? F**k!
I was told in the shop, that It works but I guess it won't as long as it hasn't been hacked totally....
Does that mean, that I'll have to import my games from Asia or will American games work? Do you know how many region codes there are?

OFF TOPIC - What if there was say an "un documented" way which disabled the hypervisour, region free games? ON TOPIC - There are 3 region codes, NTSC, NTSC-J and PAL. If you have an Xbox 360 no matter what firmware or drive etc you use you can only use games (genuine or back-up) that are from your region.

Then GET IT documented, so everyone doesn't think it's a prank or a tease. If you truly have information you're not sharing just to help one or a few people, Then that's ASININE and you're worthless, and it won't help us.
