Mods - There are some links in this post that I thought might help people out.  They are not live links, however, please remove or edit them if necessary.

I would like to say that after a lot of reading and watching vids and searching through the forums, I have a successful 360 mod.  Yes, the search button on any and all forums is useful.  For the curious and the hopefuls out there, here is my setup and what I did...

Xbox360 with Hitachi 0078FK drive - got it right before Xmas.  After reading probably a 30 page forum thread at xbox-scene, I realized that the firmware hack only came out that same day lol.

Had 2 computers with different SATA chipsets. Neither of them worked. Bought 2 different controllers from TigerDirect (external USB and internal PCI) both with Silicon chipsets.  Neither of them would pass the checksum with the Maximus tool. If it doesn't pass the checksum, why would you even bother taking a chance? Did more searching and reading and ordered myself a Via VT6421A internal PCI SATA card.  Don't bother dicking around, just order one.

Modeb - a pain in my ass until I found a thread where somebody said turn on the xbox after you see the linux startup prompt. Worked like a charm.

Maximus 3.0 - Watched the YouTube video.  The reason for this was that it was very current.  I second guess a lot of tutorials out there because of the age of them.  All went well.

ya man. congrats. I have a samsung MS28 drive, an iv been tryin to mod it wit The ALI M5283 chipset. peice of garbage card... Sent it back and ordered That same chipset from the same sight that u said to get it from. Its dirt cheap.  Hopefully when i get it i will be problem free.
