I have just modded a new xbox360 with a MS28 drive.

The drive detected and flashed fine with xtreme 5.2C.

When I first put it back into the xbox 360 it would boot backups fine BUT all originals came up with "Please put in an xbox 360 console".

After trying unsuccessfully to sort this error by flashing different firmwares I eventually replaced the laser and both originals and copies where booting fine.

However after the machine being turned off for an hour I now get an open tray error when any disk is put in including Video DVD's.

Any and all ideas would be gratefully received.

What method did you use to flash the drive? (vcc, 10sec, slax)

I'm currently running tests on an ms28a with an intermittant fault, I have reason to beleive that some damage occurs with the vcc method (not always).  I'm trying to solve code 1000,1001,1003 from e64-65, its looking like a driverIC problem, recieving too much voltage from a naff power regulator, the same regulator that provides power to vcc.

I used the 10 sec method using a Via 6421A PCI sata controller.

People who have VIA chip sets don't need to use the VCC trick, you use the 10 second method (you don't have to wait 10 seconds as 70 is displayed straight after power on so the 10 seconds is useless) it's fail proof. By the way, 1000, 1001 (and possibly 1003 if I rember) - from experience...is a short circuit.  e65 with a Samsung (with a correct flash) and not grounding (from personal experience and testing) is fried Elite MT chip, e64 is bad flash Smiley
