the thing is, that pcb doesn't look like a handbuilt interface, but rather some premade board.. those touchscreen controllers have a different look, I don't think that's it.

Sure its a usb connector?
Seems to have 5 x pins if you zoom in. Now usb has +5, D-, D+,Gnd, if im not mistaken.
Also looks like the ribbon cable is plugged into that end.(looks like a white molex type plug is in the socket)
unless the wires are tagged onto the reverse of the PCB.

It all looks VERY suspicious to me.. altho maybe im wrong...

the mini-usb connector has 5 pins...
pin #4 is unused or tied to ground... (depending on the layout of the pcb)
#1 - VCC; #2 - D-; #3 - D+; #5 - GND

Could it be that those are only data? GND/Shield (is that where we get wire 5 from?) and VCC could be wired to the 360.

I zoomed in on the image... It's still hard to tell what wires are connected, at first glance it looks like maybe two of them are... but then I looked at it some more and now I can't tell, heh.

Is it possible that it could be JTAG if all four wires are connected? Could ground and another line be tied somewhere inside the 360 like I suggested for the USB?

   1. TDI (Test Data In)
   2. TDO (Test Data Out)
   3. TCK (Test Clock)
   4. TMS (Test Mode Select)
   5. TRST (Test ReSeT) optional.

5 pins is enough

as mentioned previously, the ribbon going into the 360 has 4 wires, one of which looks like its chopped half way down. This leaves only 3 wires actually connected to the 360.

If TRST is optional then (assuming that the picture is crappy and four wires really are connected) it could be a JTAG connection... I don't really know that much, but wasn't JTAG disabled with a fuse?

Ruben

Wink not many people figure that out.

looking at the pic it definitely looks like it is only 3 cables, but there would be no point to have that rfourth ribbon cable there...who knows. i'd have to agree that it does look prefabricated though.

well the reason i figured it out is , cause my brothers name is ruben, and when we were kids we all decided to see what our names were spelled backwards, and he was over for newyears eve, and we were talking about that, lol, and when i seen your name i was like Smiley smile

Speaking of the green wire, I measured the resistance between those two points:

Unplugged: 1.065 ohms
Plugged in: 0.490 ohms
Powered on (no video cable): 1.000 ohms
Powered on (video cable): 1.000 ohms

Another remark about the setup, the Xbox 360 is the Core version hence the white tray and as far as I know you can't apply Xbox Live updates without an harddrive or memory attached (to store the Xbox Live account data). At least with my Core machine I couldn't apply the fall update.

Maybe he used the dashboard version that allow the demo kiosk disc to work... But I hope for something more intriguing.
