I picked up a brand new 360 tonight at Walmart. I went home and first thing I did before even powering it up was to take it apart to flash the firmware. I unplugged the sata cable to the dvd drive, hooked up my cable to the pc and powered on both the pc and the 360. Mind you they are both grounded to each other using the croc clips.

Now when my trusty via card did not recognize the dvd drive I knew something was up. I hooked it to the tv and saw error 65! Could it be possible that the xbox is in an error state since the first thing it noticed when it was fresh from the box is that the sata cable to the dvd was not there. If so is there a way I can reset this error code and try again? I tried with out the cable hooked up to the dvd drive at all and I can get to the xbox 360 logo but then it hangs and gives error 64. I also tried leaving it turned off for about an hour to let the caps discharge and still error 65. Where in the world are these error codes held???

Please help Cry

Sorry for flaming, but:
OMG, how can one be so stupid ? You should have known that there are some problems with the 360, how can you take it apart before even testing it ? When my 360 returned from M$' repair service I tested it for a whole week before taking it apart again just to make sure it is stable to some extend.

Well, the good thing is: You will never do this again will you ? Congrats, you just learned something.
