Open Tray on backup dvd-r movies with xtreme 5.0 and 5.1

I just had a customer come back today and tell me his machine wouldn't play his dvd-r movies--so I tested it out and sure enough it gets an open tray error on his 5.1c firmware. I then test out my 360 which has 5.0 and it too does not play dvd-r backup movies.

I just downgraded his firmware to 4.2a and it reads the same dvd-r that was giving open tray errors perfectly.

Did xbox1 iso support screw up dvd-r movie playback?

I just updated mine last night. I didn't test DVD playback, but when I get home I will and report back.

I used DVD-R playback a few times using 5.0 and that worked without a problem. Discs used were Verbatims -R 16x. So I guess it's save to say the DVD-playback isn't messed up totally.
