not the security sector but the 16 byte key for the dvd drive. It may have crashed before writing that bit, try a new floppy / drive or both! and try to read the drive again mtkflash R /M /SATA original.bin and pm me the file ill look for the key for you. otherwise its a wait until the 360 is hacked and you can get the key from the box or a walmart swap!

There now selling Phillips VAD6037/21 Xbox 360 Replacement DVD Drive. Could this be a mistake or are these the new ones that xbox-scene just announced. Be intresting to see if they are a new drive.

I thought those were old xbox drives. I think the new ones that x-s discussed are supposed to be BenQ/lite-on driives.

The hitachi drive is still in stock Smiley  Get them while you can for $65.

I managed to nab myself a TS drive yesterday, been poking with it for a 2 days now.

Congrats to anyone else who got in on the frenzy.  I think microsoft will now think twice before discarding xbox360 parts again.

I'd pick one up but nothing writes to them properly, I fried my current one and just removed the tsop

So, sould be posible to set the key in a samsung drive if the key is from a Hitachi one?

If it is true, maybe the fastest chance to hack the X360 will be extract the key from our Hitachi/LG Drives and put them onto Samsung ones pick from the stores placed in this post, isn't it?

WOW,Yeah, I like your sarcasm but, in sarcasm mode on, of course, please, read the title of this post, in it, you can find two beatiful words: "Drives" and "Replacement".

I'm just asking about that, Can I buy a Samsung drive from the stores debated in this post and put my Hitachi's key on them?

If you know the answer, please, say if else please, contribute with all you can to the post and don't try to be a clown, there are too much clowns in the circus yet...

Oh, very thanks for your answer, I'm very interested in doing it because in spanish forums are not clear if the Hitachi's firm will be released soon, so if the Hitachi's firm isn't released the only way to get our backups working will be purchasing a samsung drive and patching it with our own key...

All of that is my thinking only, I don't know if it would be possible...

One thing more, I'm spanish and my english isn't too good, so please, excuse me if I make any mistake writing...

Well technically the ability to hack the Hitachi is out there. The Specialist, and team have proven it possible. It's just a matter or time before someone puts their notes together and puts it out. Or one of them decides it's time to release it.

*I'm not sure if this has been addressed yet, but what method was used to rip the PG3 game that they showed in the first Xbox 360 playing backup video ?

Wussup guys? I have a Hitachi but i recently got ahold of a Sammy & all i want to do is replace the drive in my system. Can i just swap & read/write the firmware to the Sammy as usual or is there more to it?

I just got done flashing my friend's drive cause he was lucky enough to get a Sammy a few days ago with his system. It was pretty simple actually  Tongue  Anyways, can i just swap & flash as normal?  If no, could you explain what needs to be done or point me in a direction for the info....Thanx

you need to transfer the key from your hitachi to the samsung, but aside from that it all stays the same.

i have swapped bothe keys and encypted it etc but i do'nt understand this part

The next argument is the address of the target sector in the MN103's address space in hexadecimal. Just add 0x90000000 to the sector's offset into the firmware dump to get this value. The final argument is the sector size. The 3120L erase/program routines support a few devices, some appear to have 8KB sectors (0x2000 bytes), others 4KB sectors (0x1000 bytes). My drive has a SST39SF020A flash device (with 4KB sectors). I'm not sure if any Hitachi-LG drives exist with a different chip, but my app supports them just in case. Make sure you specifiy the sector size in hexadecimal.

can anyone help, i just want to flash it back to the hitatchi?
