hi,
i used the vcc to be able to flash my ms28 i left the resistor there knowing the current will take the shortest route , everything was fine , 2 wire where stinking out of the drive i tried an original games it was working then i moved and my arm touched the 360 and the wire touched the casing of the cdrom i heard a small poof and it smelled electronic., screen went blank.,

turned it off putted tape on the wire turned it back on Error e65 , turned it off turned it back on touching the wire erroe e64 ...

is this my flash ship on board wich is now burned??? whats is burned can i change it?   can i jsut buy a new ms 28 board?

thank you

if you are lucky, it's only the flash chip. given you have the key, you can put a new chip in (or have someone do it). however it's possible that the CPU also got damaged. check for burn marks on all chips.

A similar thing happened to my ms28, mine went pop and the error lights came on e65. I did not even get to the point of extracting my key. To piss me off further it has the black glue covering all chips.

If there is no vcc on the sst chip more likely a plated thru' hole has been burnt out. Look @ the lid & see if there is a black scorch mark this will lead to the problem area. To restore the +5v just poke a thin wire thru' the plated hole & solder to the track pads.
