I am not sure if I seen the list here or somewhere else.  Nine times out of 10, when I see something...I come back across it.  This is one thing that has never really been made into a FAQ.  What DVD writers work?  IMO, this is the biggest set back to anybody looking to do any modding on a 360.  I have had friends tell me for years to buy LiteOn.  I thought they were crap, apparently, there is more hacked firmware for that specific writer than any on the net.

Ok, I am spacing out...aggrivation and the inability to burn.  What burners work?

I have an NEC DVD +-RW ND 6650A  <---this does not work

If you want to back up 360 games, then you will need a DVD drive that supports bit setting (depending if you have Hitachi or Samsung) and it will also need to support DVD+R DL.  But as Arakon said, the Pioneer 111D drives are very cheap (to be exact $40 over in Australia) ;0

Not sure if Bitsetting is still required for Samsung but not for Hitachi..

Just bought a lite-on.  Works just fine.  The DL in my lappy will not recognize the DL disc's.  However, NEC's website does claim it to be a DL writer.  Odd...  I am gonna buy a samsung replacement and mount it perm in my PC.  I very seldomly reboot and I run 2 virtual servers inside.  Never have too much security for a virus server.  Easier to maintain from my own system with VMware Workstation.
