hey, since xbox 360 came out, ive become increasingly interested in modding my old xbox.  Heres a few things i would like to do:

I would ike to install a new dashbord (like EvoX) but i dont know where to find it and what to do with it once ive found it....

secondly i would like to be able to "back up" my games onto the hard drive of my xbox, this will probably involve some new hardware

and thirdly, i would like to buy an aftermarket case

Any help on these things would be much appreciated......

Forget EvoX. Avalaunch is the best homebrew dashboard around.

I'm sure you're aware that the first thing you'll need is a modchip. You will probably also want to invest in a large capacity IDE drive.

If you're familiar with IRC, connect to EfNet and join #xbins, #xboxhacker and #xbox-scene. There you will find all the answers you seek.

Notice, f|uke did not instruct you to get help on Xbox-Hacker.  He suggested IRC channels; read his post again.  There is a perfectly good community out there that can help you.

I agree, totally.

I used avalaunch for a year previously, and then switched to unleashx.  It has the features of avalaunch (plus more), and the customizability of evox.

Same here. You could always use Avalaunch for a secondary dash. Then you can use Qwix to FTP your games and it'll be a helluva lot faster and possibly more organized.

The customizability of UnleashX is much more extensive if you read up on how to edit the config file. I believe there's a tutorial on xbox-scene.com and probably on the UnleashX main site.

Eh, I had Avalaunch sitting as a secondary dash and just used XBMC all the time. If I needed to FTP anything I would use Ed on Chip, the only problem with it is that it wont copy files that start with a period; I only ran into that when I was uploading XBMC and they weren't files that needed to be kept anyway.

www.xbox-scene.com has some good comparisons of all the current mod-chips.

UIX ( www.teamuix.com ) always looks promising, god knows if they'll ever release it.

integrated xlink kai setup for online gaming

XBMC!! I used to use Avalaunch for the longest time.

I stream, video, audio, pictures straight to the XBOX. Not to mention XLINK KAI support built right in so if it's running on your PC, you can hop on and join other people playing system link games.

Ever since switching to XBMC, the only thing I use Avalaunch for is to boot into it to update XBMC.

Would you guys buy a ModChip (DUO X2) that was Preflashed with EVOX???
One modchip site is selling them, and I just wanted to know what you think.......

Evox, SlaYers and other versions are impossable to find unless I beg on IRC....
Do you thing this is a real possablility....and will I need to find other software???
