hello peeps ive searched the forums and couldnt find anything to fix my question.
youve prolly answered my question several times "sorry if im asking for the millionth time the same question"

right last night i flashed my MS28 used extreme3.3 by using the poweredown trick for 10 seconds before flashing
obviously made a backup of my orig firmware for key hexing purposes.

right so i transfer my key into the extreme 3.3 and successfully transfer to the 360 Smiley im chuffed....

BUT upon trying it in the machine i get the is it E66 error hmmm
so upon inverstigating i find its the dreaded fall update that ive been reading about ,,,

trust my kids to be using xbox live..

so again i did some looking and a lot of people say try using a firmware release above 4.0 so i find 4.1a and b..
so i decide to use 4.1a .
i hex in my key into the required section and flash to the drive again using the power down method and all seems well Smiley chuffed again .......

NOPE every game i try weither it be orig or copy says please insert this disc into an xbox360 to play .................

AAAAAAAAAAARGH

my next thought was restore the orig firmware but nooooooo the firmware corrupt somehow the size has jumped to 568k WTF..........................

so please any help in fixing this before my kids find out it aint plahing games and i decide to slit me wrists rather then take there ranting .... lol

thnx in advance

PS i cant solder incase anyone mentions doing that ,,........

Are you sure you dumped the right firmware the first time? Not your pc dvd drive's firmware? All you need is your key hopefully you can get that back out of your drive. Dump the firmware get the key retry again with 4.1 and you should be okay. How did your firmware file jump to 568kb? you might need to use this method to reflash and dump. http://www.xboxhacker.net/forums/index.php?topic=3510.0

You dumped your original firmware without the /m variable

You're gonna have to manually hex it and look between $4000-$41FF for your key, its pretty easy to spot--there will be all these FFFFFF and other random $#!t and then a key like AEFA8F88999876 will appear -- 16 characters long I believe. You would then download maximus's firmware toolbox 2.0, open up x41a.bin and replace the key with the one you extracted from your original firmware--then try patching it back.

If you cant figure it out, send me your firmware and I'll get the key for ya

hello guys thnx for thw replys
im alittle worried about trying to flash the drive using the method mentioned

the command used in dos was mktflash r /m orig

this created a n orig.bin which i used in winhex to copy and paste the key as described in the winhex extreme.avi file

i then saved the 4.1a file using save as and the nreflash using the comman mtkflash w /m xxxx.bin

flash was successfull but the drive wouldnt play copies nor originals

it kept saying to play this game please insert it into and xbox360 console
lol
i will try and rehex the key using the affor mention tool and try again

i tried using the X360SAM.EXE dos shortcut but nothing happened

should i try 4.2 ?

thnx in advance

does it make any diff that im powering the drive down by using the bxox360`s on/off button ?

could this mean that the keys missing from the FWQ as i cant see anything as described in reply about finding the key
