It's not my backup So I don't know the specifc brand, but if you really want to know, I could inform for you But I agree with MacDennis, I think there won't be much trouble with any media type.

TheSpecialist doesn't own a x360. The brand does not matter. No I didn't make the video.

Again, it's a DVD+R DL disc.

It will never be complete because of possible counter measures. The age old cat and mouse game ..

so the point of this hack is for backups, right how about we try to convince ms to let us backup the whole game to the hdd? every disc has its own serial number, right? so the disc is stored on the hdd, and u just put in the disc to read out the serial number would be a nice proposal, or what do u guys think? this way neither of us lose...

and then someone will make a patch for the serial number check. MS doesn't accept suggestions like that.

I can't imagine that with 'smart' posts like this you have hackingbrains enough to build FW for the DVD drive from scratch off as you try to pull of in the topic you opened... pfew

Yeah, we should have a 'brains' competition, come on n00bs, post a video of your brains (open to the air is best). Now all we need is a prize, any suggestions? Also we need a judging criteria, most attractive, biggest etc. And no faking! No hiding someone elses body behind the TV or recording someone elses lobotomy and playing it back. It has to be your own work on your own head

i tried to remove the ST micro chip from my hitachi drive today with a solderpro, it wasnt coming off. So im going to try and dump it via connecting it to win XP. Could i just ask, is there any way i can corrupt or wreck my drive connecting it to my SATA connections on my Mobo? I saved for ages for my 360 and cant afford a replacement. Ive tried reading the forum the best way to dump it but the info seems scattered everywhere or buried in 48page threads.... would some1 please be kind enough to list what i need (ie. the programs & Hardware) so i can get it all ready to do after work? If i atleast know my drive key then i know ill be half ready for when a firmware gets released Cheers in advance every1

Seriously, if you can't afford a replacement then don't start hacking the thing. I've heard of too many horror stories about broken x360 drives already ..

http://www.kev.nu/360/dvd.htmlPS Your too eager! [/quote] I tried to translate to engish with bablefish but wouldnt work only kidding, was hoping more in the lines of: Connect drive to sata, load up msdos boot disk, load plsci and type bla bla bla ?? (i know its spoon feeding a bit, sorry) When i try and read the 48page thread, i start to learn stuff, and then 4pages later TS or some1 says "right thats now been proven wrong" so im back to square one !!! also could i ask, the dumps from the 2 hitachi drives on the xboxhacker page, are the firmwares decrypted at all? or are they raw just how they would be read from the chip?

If you can find the the plaintext device manufacturer string in the firmware then they are not scrambled. Crypted is not the correct word.
