i soft modded my xbox and i lost my dash

soft modded xbox with splinter cell, and action replay, got ahold of aid2.11 final, used it to add extra features, like- XBMC , DVD2XBOX
USED UNLEASH X for dashboard . but i made sure i backed up MS dash before installing anything listed above . can play games only with the game in DVD  trying to boot with no game results in MS Oriental error page  number in uppper left page.

seems like the dashboard is messed up...its been years since I messed with my box so i aint much help but I think you have to have the dash you want to use named default.xbe....

I dont really have a clue, you will get better responces if you post this in the xbox1 section (you have posted in the 360 section)

He's got a REALLY good point... you're in the wrong section.  However... I feel bad for ya.   So... Go grab an evox .ISO (if you don't have one, make one yourself on your PC) then boot it with that.  I'm fairly certain you can find an evox release in the usual places.  Also, if you can't find just a simple evox ISO (they're small enough to find on a CD-RW but I reccommend DVD-R media for xb1... very buggy with +R media) just look for a copy of slayers evox installer.  I'm pretty sure you can boot with network support under slayers, and even re-install/fix a botched installation (such as yours).

If you choose not to install it FROM the slayers disk (I wouldn't see a reason not to) You'll need to find a copy of your original MS dash, which you can transfer to your box via ftp. (You should ALWAYS have a backup of your Xbox's C Drive in a small directory on your pc in case of situations like these)  You can arrange your directories as you like after fto, however, one of the GREAT features of slayers is that it installs lots of extra goodies for you if you want it to.

One final note, Softmods (while cheap and effective) prevent you from going on live.  Period. (yes, even with an original disc)  You may want to consider the notion of getting a hard-mod with Multiple bios banks should you ever wish to compete over live.

Where did you hear this nonsense. You can go live fine with an installed softmod.


as for the problem. if you still can launch your exploited save via the retail game you should be able to grant ftp acces and copy over a fresh msdash (which can be found on slayers)
if that doesn't work you can hotswap or install a chip to fix.

  You'd know better than I would on the softmods, so I'll defer to you    I could have sworn that I read long ago not to go live on a softmod.  Haven't really looked too far into them either seeing as that I had an Xecuter 1 chip by the time I learned of the softmods.

also need to add this little bit of info. At first when this happened it was able to still play games. But now cannot even get it to boot from a dvd to playan Original game.
Error 16 = Dashboard error     on the micro$oft Error page that they nicely written in oriental words.
tried slayers disk / evox disk/ all disks are good GOOD good but wont boot the disk because dvd rom is turnd off i guess.
PS:: i am demon's brother and am trying to help him with this issue.
He has the v1.2 xbox with the phillips dvd rom.
Also have tried to pull the HDD and use it in a working XBOX that hax a v.1.6b  but same problem.
tried different dvd rom.
should an Xecuter v2.6 fix this prob ? if so then wer in buisness. Cause instead of sending our tax money to Bill Gates he decided order a modchip just in case.

ok his problem is solved  thanks for the help. the Xecuter 2 CE lite did the trick
