this is an unusal one... I have the ali sata pci card....i did the hotwire trick to try and get my hitachi into modeb but i believe this failed and fried the eject controller.
i then got a copy of protobus slax cd, (had previously tried just the normal slax cd and would not work) and managed to get the drive seen in windows and managed to get my key bin etc... happily so.

I recently bought the ati card and just installed it. Problem is that my pc hardrive crashed on me this week so i had to do a fresh install with new hardrive. this time though the sata card was installed as i was doing my fresh windows install and i have noticed that there is more detecting being done when i boot my drive up (ie on the very first screen where it detects your hardrive and memory etc). Once it runs through its normal checks for ide and memory, it now checks for the ide channels on the sata card which it did not do before.  When i have the xbox plugged into the sata port the drive is recognized at this point on one of the ide channels.  then i let slax boot and it starts  loading. once its run vmlinuz........................................... it then just goes to a blank screen with a small cursor at the very top left handside and the pc dvd rom just stops working and it stops booting.

Now i have read that ejecting the xbox drive will usually unfreeze it, but my problem is that its fried and i cannot eject it. Sad

I have also tried just booting into windows with the xbox connected to the sata port and this also causes is to freeze just after the initial awardbios screen. ie blank screen...do not even get to see the xp logo.

Anyone got any ideas what i might be able to do to get this working.Have tried loads of different settings in bios and then set back to default but no joy there at all. You may ask why i am going through all this bother with a broken drive? I got a new hitachi 0032ce drive today and have sent it off to get it flashed with the 0040 firmware but when i get it back i will want to be able to flash it with garyopa.

I did try to get the new 0032ce drive recognized in windows today as well but no joy this was why i went back to the broken one as i new this one had been recognized before.

On top of breaking my xbox this month which was given to my by girlfriend (getting earache there for messing about with it in the first place). I have also manage to stand on my glasses breaking them, my pc hardrive died a death, my dbox is going on the blink and today i managed to trash the rear derailler on my bike.........its just not so good right now...... i think i am going back to bed until October is over....... i didn't even win the euromillions tonight.......sorry getting off topic there. Poor me its not the samaritans.

I suppose my question is do you think the fresh window install would have installed drivers for the sata card so its not working on normal ide mode(native). I did not install any third party drivers..

You might wanna send your stuff to a professional. The 0032CE firmware will not work, heres a quote from me from another post..

The firmware on 32ce Hitachi drives is not complete and will not play originals or backups even though there is a package for it in opa 7 in 1. The drive lacks the AES/drive key routine so flashing it with your key is useless. The only way to get a 32ce drive working is to desolder the flash chip and use a external programmer to upgrade the firmware to 40.

For a price you can have stusy do it, heres the link..

Ahhh I see…. I read this post
http://www.xboxhacker.net/forums/index.php?topic=4335.0;topicseen

And I have sent my drive away to swaytech for the upgrade to 0040 from 0032ce. I was under impression that when I got it back I would be able to then flash the garyopa onto it as the chip has already been unsoldered and flashed with the 0040 and then soldered back on, I thought I would be able to flash from 0040 to garyopa via the pc ,seeing as it had already been upgraded, but from what this post says I will not be able to do this yet until garyopa realeases the next version his firmware?Huh

right blinkin weird.
I have another old pc so i took pci card out and tried it in that one and it has recognized the 360drive again no problems. So if someone can confirm if i can flash garyopa to my new 0040 hardrive via pc,( when i get it back from repair shop) then that would be most helpful...
