blazintildadeath - You are starting to spew crap! Did you know you can still flash with even an empty flash? What do you think the VCC trick does? And if you screw something up or your computer reboots in the middle of a flash you are prob in the same boat anyways and would have to do the bad flash recovery even if you didn't use this firmware. And whats the big deal about having to use the enable0800 disk, so what, it adds a whole 30 seconds to the process. You would have to do something pretty bad/stupid to messup your xbox 360 motherboard and those with an adapter, the xbox motherboard isn't even part of the process. You can damage your dvd controller board but, then again any modification is risky plus there are other ways besides the vcc trick. So please, stop the unnecessary posts about the v4 firmwares, if you are not competent enough then you should stick with something else.

Definition: Impregnable - 1. Not capable of being stormed or taken by assault; unconquerable; as, an impregnable fortress. 2. Difficult or impossible to overcome or refute successfully; beyond question or criticism; as, an impregnable argument.
In laymans terms, The firmware can not be penetrated.
Definition: Penetrated - 1. to pierce or pass into or through: The bullet penetrated the wall. The fog lights penetrated the mist. 2. to enter the interior of: to penetrate a forest.
@ Blazintildeath - Go away. If you don't like his work, then honestly why use any of it? This is exactly what people have been waiting for and he is providing the community with security. Someone always has to say something negative/stupid.

LOL!! I could continue to dog jump blazintildadeath but I think he will get the message. This latest firmware is exactly what I want and I'm very, very appreciative for it. Thanks Commodore4eva and everyone else who has contributed.

So now we all exactly know what Impregnable exactly means, I hope someone can tell why it's 100% impregnable, what has been improved to the firmguard compared to v4.0 and why one can be so sure that is build in software/FW by C4E can't be reversed in some software way by MS (because they can do whatever somebody else does with software, like C4E and other hackers can do things with the software). So enough chitchat and a kid named Blazintildeath (please, please I have no idea what you think you end up in, but this is not the messageboard for the upcoming game Viva Piniata with max. 10 year olds you're trying to prevent to blow up their 360 when connecting it directly on 220v power and laying it in the microwave to get the job done), I hope C4E or somebody else with insight can explain!

Your first post and already begging? You know how large the package is? That means the total with Enable0800 disc and video's. Your mailbox won't work with that. Advice: go search up the known places to download it. If you don't know where they are, you're probably also not able to implement the FW hack

I just flashed the drive with 4.1b. All ok, no problems on the flash. Put it back together, and now it doesnt read discs. Tried backups and originals.
Now, my question is, does this mean i cannot use the Enable0800 disc to reflash back to another firmware version?
I was like, ok, no problem. I'll just burn a enable0800 disc and reflash. But, is that even possible now it's not reading discs?

how about to make it to work in windows without Enable0800.iso , same like with Hitachi with Tray open on startup.
I guess it depends if that is nescessary, this one could be 100% waterproof already, therefore it would be nice to hear what's different compared to the 4.0 FW yes this is very nescessary... to use this Enable0800.iso disk is not so cool ( need DL media , and it get lost all time ) , Open Tray on startup alot better way to get drive detected in windows ... commodore4eva can you add this options please ? Thx

my only issue is that from 3.3 to 4.1, they only signiicance has been drive speed/firmguard hacks, not really a mind blowing reason to upgrade right now. sorry. plus, for burned +R DL media, quiet would be a better default for compatibility. i suppose thats just practical (and not all that useful) thinking.
i'm sort of curious as how firmguard works, i didnt want to ask since its probable that it works much like the xbox mods, ignore a read/write request, stealth the results so that it appears to read/write a 'genuine' result (returns an 'original' address range if asked, returns valid security keys, proper game/disc media, etc.), or protect the memory space that calls for the specific read/write request so you can more easily stealth/prevent access... harder to do in the small space, and in assembly code.
locking out the ability to read/write the firmware, seems like a way to bring up a new kind of 'warning/fatal' error message in a new version of the 360 dash, i.e. microsoft baiting users who use this firmware, into doing something stupid.

Maybe because 4.1 is impregnable, and 3.3 isn't so much? Safety? not being detected by MS and not loosing XBL? Just a few minor reasons to jump into 4.1 I guess

I always look to see if my dvd drive key has been put in right with key drive xtractor/patcher but with 4.1 i get WARNING: This firmware is encripted (or unknown)!. wot with it. And what is the difference with Make X41a.bin and Make X41b.bin.

The encrypted part after the flash will be the MS28 protection I guess. It won't read unless you do VCC or 10 sec. trick. I did read to fast, I was only picking up your question of difference on a and b version. And those are clear stated in the startpost

The enable0800 disc is only needed after flashing to v4.0+ firmware. So to answer your question directly, No you do not have to use the enable0800.iso

Thought Id ask here too, Since this blocks firmware updates by microsoft...isnt it possible for microsoft to put a kind of test in to check wether the firmware area is writeable? Not so stealth anymore eh?

So what if they do. They just get no response of the FW. What do they want to do then? Ban you for Live just because it's not responding? That's not very legal from MS. You could sue them So yep, in this case, still very stealth. They can't say what's wrong, your FW stays impregnable as C4E says and MS can't do sh!t
