An alternative firmware (SH-D162C port) for the Samsung SH-D163A has almost been completed, and it's time to do some testing.
So... if you have a SH-D163A and don't mind spending some time testing, please PM me and I'll make sure you get the files and info you need.

what problem are you having, flashing it, if thats it and you have a VIA VT6421 then thats your problem, i have this particular SATA
controller, and everytime i wanted to flash any SH-D163A or SH-D162 i would get an error and then my computer would reboot, well it turned out that my SATA Card --->>> VIA VT6421 did nt like flashing my drives , so what i did is i went out to comp USA and bough another SATA controller, i bought the Generic CompUSA SATA card Silicone image 3512 chipset, hooked it up and bam it worked great to flash the drives !

Your advice was helpful but now I can't get the Sctrom to recognise my drive and XBC wont dump original games
