Ok guys I have had my Xbox since Feb of this year. Called Microsoft and its passed its warrenty. I have been getting this To play this disc, put in an Xbox 360 console error message for about a month or so now. I can keep turning the console off and on a hundred times and it will finally read the disc, but it is getting worse and worse. This happens on just about every original disc I own, about 8 of them. I am computer savvy, and was wondering if there was some sort of walk through on figuring out what type of DvD reader the X360 has and if there is maybe some sort of Flash fix? Any ideas on this?

that sounds like your laser is dying, there isn't anything you can do except try to find a replacement laser unit.

If it worked before and is just starting to exhibit these symtoms (you havent made any recent changes), it may your you DVD drive dying.

Etech4sale.com has replacepments for around $100 US. Of course you have to flash it with your key from the old drive.

That alone made it an easy decision to void the so called warranty and flash the drive. 3 months is a total joke and demonstrates M$ poor confidence in the reliability of it's system. Really pathetic for what your paying out. I am very hard pressed to find a poorer warranty on any retail consumer product in that price range. M$ should be ashamed but instead are laughing all the way to the bank. Well f*** you M$ cause I'm laughing too now. Cheesy

Fookin hell that's terrible, I really didn't know that.  It's a bit of a piss take that manufacturers only have enough faith in their products to protect them for 90 days.

Most electrical products in the UK come with 1 or 2 year warranties as standard - some suppliers offer 5 years for no extra charge (e.g. John Lewis)

Actually guys the Xbox 360 people just surprised the heck out of me. When I called 3 weeks ago they said it was way passed the 90 day warrenty. Called again today and they said its under warrenty until Feb 07, thats one year from when I bought it. They took my name address and advised they were shipping me an empty box via UPS to send the broken console back in to get fixed free of charge. May be worth trying to call them again if you are in my same situation.  Grin
