Just about any pioneer will work, people just recommend 111d because those are the ones that are currently on the market. Older version's like 109 will work just fine.

I have a TS-H943 in my 360 and the PX-740A in my pc. Burned all of my backups with this drive. With exception of one, all the others needed the boot tricks to work. Im not sure if its the drive issue or I need a pot tweak.

That was a month ago. Now none of the backups work anymore. The xbox sometimes also has problems booting an original and stay at the "reading disc" status for sometime and then gives the DDE. But once the original boots, I never encountered a single DDE.

Sorry mate, didnt intend to hijack your thread, just letting you know of personal experience.

Spawn, I guess I have to change my statement about the drive. My backups that I made with the plextor used to work but with boot tricks and recently stopped working altogether and always gave me the open tray message. Well, not anymore. I did a rubber band mod (thanks to Jayqu3) to the 360 dvd drive and all of them work perfect.

Samsung drives don't need discs burned with Pioneers. Even hitachi's don't need them with the latest firmware.

Are you saying with the latest hitachi firmware it does'nt matter what drive I use, So I can use a bad drive like the HP and it will work..
