Hi All...I've been looking around for days and I can not find a difinitive answer so now I'm asking for help please.

I can flash the drive with no problems but when it comes to extracting SS.bin from games I can not get windows XP to see the drive. I have tried at least 50 times with different config settings and still no luck.

Has anyone with this motherboard got windows to recognize the sammy drive?

if it's xtreme 2.0 or later, burn the supplied iso and insert it
if it's xtreme <2.0 then you need to flash the 0800 fw...

I've tried the iso and still nothing. In the PC's settings the TS-H943 shows up as the 4th IDE Master but when windows boots it does not appear.

I assume you didn't assign a drive letter?

No I did not assign a drive letter and I have not seen that as a option in setup if that's what your referring to.

you're not getting anywhere with a sata-to-usb adapter either.

Well if that's the case then can you recommend a socket 478 motherboard that will work? I have a extra PC that I could change out the mobo in.

I'm afraid it's not detected. I have looked in device manager and disc management and my computer. I have scanned for hardware changes and still nothing. It is not being detected by windows as far as I can tell. Huh

I've been working at this for several more hours I can say without a doubt that the drive is not being seen in windows. It appears in the bios setup but once windows boots it is gone. I've looked as I said before in the Disk Management and there is no unallocated disks or anything of that nature. I downloaded SLAX and booted with it off of the Samsung drive and it does not show up under SLAX either. Oh....and Uberfry you were right about me not getting anywhere with the sata to usb adapter. I received it today and it doesn't work either.

I do have the Samsung SH-D162C dvd drive flashed with Kreon's firmware and that is what I have been using. Works great. I just have this extra TS-H943 and wanted to try it out. So it's not the end of the world. I'm just stubborn and have a hard time with failure. At this point I'm going to let it go unless someone has any ideas I may try.  Smiley

Got it working! Grin

Here is what happened. I found this in a post from Commodore4eva on Xtreme 3.0. He states "Insert Enable0800 DVD into drive. This must be a DVD+R dual layer disk."

Well the readme file included with the Xtreme v3.2 does not specify it must be on a dual layer disc so I burned it to a single layer disc. Turns out that was the problem. The drive never went to 0800 mode so windows never saw it.

LOL...Now that I got it working I will most likely never use it cause I got the SH-D162C. This drive flashed with Kreon's firmware and used with either Schtrom 360Xtract v2.1 or Xbox Backup Creator is soooo much easier to extract game ss.bins, PFI's, DMI's and game iso's. BTW...I am using the Xeno connectivity kit and it is working well. So I didn't have to disassemble a xbox 360 to power the TS-H943.  Smiley Lastly...The SATA to USB adapter I purchased now works as well. Cheesy
