i have been looking at all the information i can find for this ms28 drive.i also have an ms25 and i can read/write to that no problems.here is all the spec i have:
its a MSI K8N Neo4 (which has)
4x Nforce4 sata chipset
4x Sil3114 sata chipset.
i also have a VIA 6412L pci sata card

i have tried pluging into all 4 ports of the nforce4 and  comes up everytime saying something like status=51 should be=70. i have even tried to boot console at different intervals, etc.
i tried the sill chipset and got what i expected "no device detected"
i tried the via card and that also gives me status=51 should be=70.

with all of the above i have tried the mtkflash 183c,mtk-nf4 and the ntkflash via and no joy but the mtk-nf4 does work with my MS25 with my nforce4 sata port 1.

the only things i do know to try is the vcc switch(but not wanting to as that looks hard)
and the other soldier mod where you cross 19 and 20 on the chip to by pass the lockout.
how affective is the second one as i could easily do that.?is the a good tut for this and will it kill my drive if i leave them connected too long etc?
have i missed any other combination?
please help.
also where can i find tuts to edit mtk flash for all of the above sata chipsets?
thanks

NO NO u don't cross 19 & 20. Just short them to ground this method interferes with f/w execution..... no soldering is necessary! All these methods are a hit and miss affair and the ease depends on the hardware  you have. In my case nf3 is very forgiving when compare with intel IC5 using the intel is 10 times harder to use.  So don't give up try and try again in the end u will succeed! Using the IC5 it took me 3 hrs to get the timing right so as to catch the window of opportunity.
