My first post here - I've searched for this problem and couldnt find it.. so hopefully I wont get shot down

I have a samsung SH-D162C flashed with Kroen's v0.8 firmware. When I try to extract the security sectors using the xbox backup creator for Halo 1 game I get the following error message

Action:
Action: Read Security Sector
DeviceIoControl Error: 0x000003E3
The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.

Sense Error: 0 / 00 / 00
NO ADDITIONAL SENSE INFORMATION

CDB: READ DVD STRUCTURE
0xAD 00 FF 02 FD FF FE 00 08 00 01 C0 00 00 00 00

Any help on this issue would be welcome. I have created a backup using this program for PGR3 without any problems.

Thanks in advance

Extraction of XBOX1 security sectors using the SH-D162C should be avoided due to a bug in the V0.80 firmware. This bug and a few other minor problems has been solved and I expect to release an update within next week.

In order to guarantee the best possible experience, the fw is being put trough a series of tests these days. The next 162C fw and upcoming releases of Xbox Backup Creator/Schtrom Extract should really make the backup process extremely simple, and will hopefully save you all a lot of trouble and coasters along the way  Smiley

I thought all of us at a site such as this one, are here to discuss and help each other, not to rip each other off and make profits off one another.

This drive is readily available from australian online shops, and many places in europe. If you want to order online here is one that will cost $26US for the drive then $18-20 for shipping.

http://www.mwave.com.au/newAU/mwaveAU/productdetail.asp?SKU=17010013

And there are many drives available from eBay Australia at cheap prices. I bought one last week for my brother for $35US Delivered.

If you get ripped off and pay overpriced amounts then it is your own fault for not looking around. However this is NOT a SALES board for people to make profits. Moderators can correct me if I am wrong on this.

Kind Regards

Hmmm...I see that the price is a pre-order price so who knows when it will actually ship. It is definitely a question I would ask before ordering. If your not in a hurry for the drive then this is a good deal for sure. Thanks for sharing.

I rang Wilson (sale person) at mwave to find out about the drive, he said Samsung (Australia ) has run out of stock and possibly the said drive is now obsolete. It is sad that you mentioned that the drive is redily available at this store online...and you got one for your brother for $35US Delivered. Before this drive has become popular I believe u could have managed to get one for 22-24 bucks but now since it took off.
The drive itself costs 30-40 bucks each for a bulk buy ( if lucky or had any) and 5$ for shipping to United Stated would be just a lie.Unless you live in Australia so I would agree with that shipping cost you have claimed. I am not here to rip anyone off ,I just want to make it clear.

Thanks

is there any alternative drive i can flash with this firmware instead of sh-d162c such as samsung sh-w162c?

Yes...the TS-H352C will do as well. No other brands or models are supported by this fw.

Kreon thankyou for your work. I love this firmware Smiley

can you verify that the sh-w162c will work with your firmware ? This is a dvd writer as I understand. It was mentioned with emhasis that this drive will not work by a member at this forum.

For the second time.... NO! That's a DVD writer and the current firmware does not support that drive.

Just incase you wanna ask again..... NO!

And that member was right. No writers, no other brands, only the Samsung SH-D162C and TS-H352C.

You can backup XBOX1 games with the SH-D162C and 0.8 firmware.

After you extract the XBOX1 ss, edit the ss.bin and zero out bytes 0200 - 02D0 (excluding byte 02D0 but including 0200).  Merge back into the image then burn.  I have made a couple of successful XBOX1 backups using this method.

Kreon will fix the issue in the next version.

Don't discuss the backup of backups.

Hi this may sound like a really stupid question but...

Do you still have to flash your Xbox360 dvd drive with Xtreme 3.3 FW in order to play backed up games that have been created using Kreon's FW for the Samsung SH-D162C?

The reason I ask is because I have managed to play backed up DVD movies on my 360 without any kind of flashing.

Thanks,

Chinny

Thank you for your reply Wink

One question though:
Do I have to replace with zeros ( 00 ) on these bytes ?
(just to be sure I understood correct)
And 0200-02D0 are hexademical offsets?

One last..When I put my pal xbox 1 game (no ss as I know included) on my pal 360 it says to check for update in order to play the x game. I checked compatibility and i.e. PRO evo 5 is compatible, BUT I think site states that only us games of xbox1 are playable.. Dis I got that right?? Maybe the reason is because I was on American xbox site (not sure).

Normally I must be able to play "pal" xbox 1 games (my backups with ss injected) on my pal 360.Right?

Again thank u. I am looking farward for any answer..Smiley
