changing the media flag

hi guys does anyone know what happens when the box is starting to read the dvd in it ?
if i just look at it does it go like

1:look for type of media. then response back to the mobo... its a xbox360dvd.
2:check media flag. response back to the motherboard...set to boot from xbox360dvd.
3:read the rest of the xex file and the rest needed to start the game and play.......

is this how it works ? cause then there would be a posibbility to change the firmware to report to the box that the media flag is set to boot from everything. this way we not have to change the xex (whitch we cant) en when flashing the dvd rom we wouldnt have to have the dvdkey anymore.

or am just stupid with my stupid ideas
