Sorry for my bad english. 1. IDE settings (BIOS) switch to Compatible/Legacy Mode. 2. PATA Primary - SATA Secondary 3. Connect XBOX360 dvd drive to SATA Secondary to Motherboard. 4. Boot in DOS 5. Execute startB.bat 6. Open tray. 7. Boot in Windows.
Good Luck. xerius. P.S. Rename xerB.zip.doc to xerB.zip

This program sends the certain sequence ATAPI/SCSI commands found DVD drive. Hitachi 3120L got this portion комманд is switched in modeB. Program works where does not work SLAX.

If you do the above mentioned settings slax should work also. (the point is the legacy mode; if this is in the drive is treated like an ide-drive and therefore gets used by the modified ide-cd driver)
I also herard of people telling that the ORIGINAL slax-frodo.iso works for their chipsets (this is quite unrealistic since there is no modeb command issued to the drive then). The latest version of the slax-iso fixing loads of issues was in the wiki section of this forum (which vanished somehow).
Uberfry should have the latest version also on his homepage...

People, I will try his method tonight. If it works, I will confirm it midnight. If this is true, I won't need a lousy connectevity kit or a annyoing slax boot disc.

I dont need any of them (by the way probutus: the slax is not annoying... well a little bit (kidding)) I only need a wire.

Well, I tried, and it did not work. Either I am unlucky, your tutorial needs to be descriptive or it's pure false.

In my MOBO installed south bridge INTEL ICH6 and this method works 100% Describe its problem. BIOS finds your Hitachi? XerB after start finds your Hitachi? Try to install SATA Primary and connect drive in Primary port. Good Luck. xerius

sorry, but my bios doesn't give me that option, it just says either ide or raid, or none. No compatibility/legacy option.
