Has anybody been able to get streaming media (specifically video) working from a Linux box to the 360.  I hate Media Connect.  What format does Media Connect use?  Is there a Linux duplicate?

Media connect doesn't work with videos, only xp media center edition works with vids.

The question is really is there open source software that duplicates the streaming media functionality of Media Center/Connect/whatever so I can stream straight off of my Linux server.

The 360 actually plays the videos, but it doesn't run the media center interface, that's just streamed onto the 360. So if the thumbnails are on the PC (because your PC has the right codecs to play the file) they are streamed to the 360.
