I've not so many disk to try, but it should increase the bootrate. I've stil problems with 1 disk (COD2) that goes directly to video, it works on samsung....bahh...i've other more interesting stuff to take care --------- A better patch for mediatype recognition, only for 47 at the moment, because i'm trying more stuff. Now all bitsetted, not bitsetted, "half bitsetted" (Plextor, LG..., dvd-rom with burnable layers) DVD+R DL looks like pressed dvd-rom, with maxallowedspeed to 2x, like originals, then at max speed (16x?!?) when unlocked. Overwrite the patch.scp and reverse.scp in birdy flasher directory (thanks Birdy for the tools, much appreciated), restore to original fw (better with the flasher you used before), then flash again. Mediastealth is a pain, ehehhehe, hope for someone else to bring it up -------------- Techical note: it simply patch in ram the first 4 bytes of the PFI, prior to copy them in varius registers and processed by mediacheck routines (untouched this time) Now the SS is readed at 2x instead of maxspeed, some crap media can't be readed at fullspeed.

Maybe this will enable those backups burned on NEC burners to work.
I tested it with a Plextor unbootable burned backup, and now it is working.
But I don't own a NEC or a junk Lite-On or junk LG burner.

Hitachi's are already booting NEC-made backups...
Samsung Pleomax disks, Verbatim and Philips. Samsung : just the " expensive disks" not those made by Ridata.
Might improve some though....

for other FW revision, only the 2 jmp offset have to be changed, i'll try to find time to do it.
btw, the provided reverse.scp will restore the old mediacheck patch to original state, because not needed anymore

I used the scp's with the birdy 2.2 hitflash, seemed to brick the drive for me, any suggestions as how to restore? havent bricked a hitachi before but first for everything did a restore to original before flashing from my orig garyopa rls backup I always use for restoring, then did the flash with birdy pack, I was using garyopa xtreme 2.1 previously, drive isn't currently recognizable in windows apparently, tray doesn't eject, can get it to click into modeb via wire cross. oh and the drive is a v47

But I don't own a NEC or a junk Lite-On or junk LG burner.
Lite-On burners aren't junk at all... I've only used a Lite-On burning w/ Verbs and I've never had one instance of problems with unrecognizable disc errors or the such. Just an FYI.
