Hey everyone, I'm new here, but not new to forums. I've put in my hours of reading and figured it's time for some unanswered questions to be addressed.

I'll start with what im working with

- Asus P4P800 (works with slax frodo edition - modeb every time)
- v47DJ Xbox 360 DVD drive
- Verbatim and Fujifilm +DL media
- Perfect Dark Zero (Xbox 360 original)

I have my drive flashed with OPA's Xtreme v2.1 firmware. The !readme!.txt file leads me to believe that the F900 firmware step can be bypassed with this new v2.1 firmware. Security Sector extraction works with this firmware without the need to flash back and forth (loosely quoted from the readme). If this is a myth - and the F900 firmware still needs to be put on the drive, or if the F900 trick works 'everytime' - let it be known.

On my last attempt which I was sure would work - produced a coaster.

1. did the open tray trick to put the drive in modeB
2. booted Windows
3. put the disc in the drive and waited for windows to see it.
4. ran getss.exe x ss.bin (without ppf'd orig.bin with f900 - using Xtreme v2.1)
   - I it normal for the ss.bin generated to be different every time you extract?
   - this file is always 2048 bytes, is this normal aswell?
5. extracted Perfect Dark Zero 360 ISO from LBA 3567872 using IsoBuster (saved as game.iso altho it wanted to name it game.tao)
6. put game.iso and ss.bin into isobuilder folder.
7. ran build360.bat
8. burned image.dvd with CloneCD
9. I put the fresh backup in 360 and it told me to put it in a 360. (error - the video played, not the game)

I've been reading and nothing seems to be concrete - Hitachi's can't extract the security sectors correctly. I've also read Samsung drives are the only drives that will do it for sure. Mysteries which need solving.

Now - if the F900 firmware is manditory or works every time... then that's the road I'm going to take - but the readme tells me otherwise, security sector extraction is possible with Xtreme 2.1 firmware...

I've followed a dozen tutorials - none have produced a working game backup.

More medication please Smiley

Hi, i've just (30mins ago) flashed my 47DJ driver with garyOPAfirmare 2.1
everything appears to have worked and so i moved to SS extraction on my personaly copy of BF2.
This was done in next to no time......

now, when as i am using isobuster toextract the game it is taking ages - so far 30mins and only 30% done.

Is it supposed to be slow extracting or is something wrong???
how long did it take for you tot extract or can anyon else shed some light??, thanks..

Isobuster takes a while... a long while in most cases. NOthing to do with your computer/processor,... It just takes time.

WxRipper takes no time tho - seems to take a fraction of the time isobuster does.

I cannot comment on either way of doing things, as i've yet to get a backup working

Anyone produce a working backup with a LG 4163b writer? I have yet to produce one.

I hear pioneer does a good job,...

More info, you positive you're doing everything right?

I've a pioneer 111d as well.. first try didn't work.

Now, I may have noticed something to do with the SS file.

I used getss (from OPA's 2.1 release rar) on my original of BF Modern Combat,  then I used Redlines Drive Tools.
Each of these give me subtle differences in each ss.bin output.

I even downloaded a ss.bin from a website holding ss.bin's and that one is different as well!!! ideas?

I wonder if you need to add the ss + pfi + dmi info to it?  or like the xtreme firmware 3.0 for sams says
video360.iso + pfi.bin + dmi.bin + ss.bin + game.iso

now, i have a tub of 10 verbs to try but i could do with someelse trying one of the options?

Thanks..

I use the Wxripper method (with a blanked out video) to get the game.iso. The use getss.exe to get ss.bin. I then use ssmerger 1.5 to build the iso. I use clone-cd (Latest version) to burn the iso.

Pioneer 110d burner and Verbatim Media. Works like a charm

Went and got myself a 111d.

Can't believe the world of difference. I've burnt two backups, and of the two - both work.

LG 4163B produced coasters... at least when i tried using them in a v47.

Tested and true - 111d to make backups.

I've moved onto the wxriper method.. had to dismantle my 110d to do the hotswap.. but   still can't it to write out more than about 30meg and loads of crc errors.

I thought that stopping the drive would actually stop it.. not stop it for 1-2 seconds and then spin up.. thought I knackered the drive at one point..

sorry to sound like a right nooob, but does anyone actually have a step by step guide???

i've got a self made dvd Dl at 7.71 gig which  I use to get the TOc - Hotswap works...
the problem I have is that the ripping either finishes in like 10 secs or give me loads of crc errors and finishes in a bout 40 secs...

HELP!!!! Angry Angry

PS. do you leave the Video Partition highlighted as 'Incuded in iso (wxriper Style) or one of the others?

I've notice a few things...

The first is that with drive tools, if you extract the ss.bin more than 1 time, you won't get the exact same thing than the first time . Is that normal ??

And with wxripper, i get A LOT of CRC error, and i must change almost evry C for a D. Will it works ??

There's the new layout that o have for MLB 2K6

D19408
D1072
D109344
D1783936
J335360
C1783936
J0

My game.iso is 7 572 881 408 octets

After i've run bat360 to create a image.000, and  the size is 7 838 760 960 octets.

I'll try to burn it, with clone cd wityh verbatim dvd+ r dl, and i'll give you update later.

On the dashboard, when i've  put the disc in my xbox, it gaves me the exact same result than last time. It says reading, and after 3-4 minutes, it says unrecognized disc.

If i start the xbox with the game already inside, it freeze mabye 3-4 minutes on the xbox logo, it says unrecognized disc too Sad  Huh

I had a few unrecgonized errors also, then I burnt the game on my work computer and it worked fine. I am also having the trouble with ss.bin they never seem to match up with what SS Merger wants. For call of duty I was able to swicth the game name to PAL and it worked fine. But for PRey it didn't it defaulted to Mexio for the region but the SS I had extracted was way off. If I were  to extract the ss from the iso would that even work?

DUDE! I have a new pioneer drive DVR-213 np I rip my games with that on WXRIPPER and burn them with my old LG 4136b writer on DVD DECRYPTER in book mode. You also need to enter the layer break from the .dvd that ABX360 gave you. the pioneer is not suppoerted by DVD DECRYPTER!
