Gary,

Does your restore file put the key back in to the drive, I'm trying to put the same firmware on another hitachi, same version. I have a backup I'm just not sure of the procedure for doing this and don't want to brick it.

Thanks

All our releases don't touch the key area.

Do a search on here about "key transfer" and read.

It is very simple, just two commands.

One a "firmcrypt" on the file containing your drive key

And a "flashsec" command with the correct key values.

Just Flashed my 47d from 2.0 to 2.1. Everything seems to work fine now (no E64 or reset on eject). Only problem still is the error message i get when trying to rip an original with isobuster. Here is a sample jpg of error when trying to rip halo 1:

Thx garyopa for this quick fix.... keep up!!!

error <sense key=00/ASC=00/ASCQ=00>

This is the message i get when i try to extract the ss from a game . I have used both version of this firmware(2.0 and 2.1) and i have also tried getting my drive into modeB by using the conectivity kit and the method in the readme but both still do not work. If anyone has any ideas why this maybe or how to solve this i would be very greatful, for any input.

Iam using v47 drive and trying to extract HitMan:Blood Money

Thanks

So, has the getss.exe been reverse engeneerded yet?
Or do we atleast have an understanding of what it does, because i'm a linux user... Sad
well, why not use IDA for that purpose  Smiley But I dont understand Win-code that well since I am using linux for several years (since Win f***ed up my partitions...)
If only it was that simple. I'm afraid that's a bit over my head...
Found some interesting post here though: http://www.xboxhacker.net/forums/index.php?topic=1789.20

ultimate goal, to reverse the getss.exe and make it a multi-platform C app.. any takers?  Grin

It will not work.

First off, update your flash to v2.1 -- There was a small bug in v2.0 on the "unlock" area

Second, wait at least 15 seconds before running the GETSS command, you should hear
the disc spin up, then you can run the command.
