Hi spent some time going thru the long thread and inwardly digesting much info.  I have a few questions as a consequence.
My experience is with electronics and I am looking at what may be usefull with my new premium i collected last week.
Its in pieces and not yet powered on for several reasons.  I am looking at dumping virgin copies of the bios, HD, and poss dvd firmware before i start using it to play anything.
I am waiting on an update for my programmer to support the hynix ram tsop but can crack on with the hd and dvdrom.
Is there much to be gained form doing this as several people have already dumped and have seen the 16 bytes different on the dvd firmware.
Do intend to take dumps of bios pre and post live update etc for records
HD may be of use at a later point, will see.

Also, in midst of checking dvdrom I can only find the GDR 3120 power pinout which im guessing is mirrored vertically for normal operation.
Please confirm http://www.robbievox.co.uk/dvdrom-power.jpg as correct (if so please use for wiki)

Yes, complete firmware dumps of kernel, HDD and dvd-rom drive before and after initial power-on are really interesting!
It might tell you if the console updates the various firmwares with interesting data.

This question is a little bit offtopic, but I am looking to purchase my own programmer... your drive has a Hynix TSOP ? because other people who has posted reported SST TSOP or SST PLCC.  (at least for the firmware storage chip)

apols, by hynix tsop i was referring to the main 360 bios, which is a hynix 27 series.  the firmware on the dvdrom is an st 39 series plcc device (again not 100% without having in front of me)

hdd dumped after it was seen ok in bios from new sata card. dumped via hex workshop, view physical disk + then save sectors (whole disk). still no progger sw update so will butcher together a plcc adapter for the dvd firmware.
