Hi Folks,

I've got a Hitachi 47DJ drive flashed with the latest Xtreme 1.3 firmware.

It boots backups with no problems except there is a really annoying high pitch / frequency noise which only occurs when playing a backup, originals and movies are fine.

Its not constant and is worse on certain games, DOA4 & Burnout Revenege are good examples.

This noise is not really loud or anything, its just at a frequency that after extened play starts to hurt your ears and is very annoying.

The other thing I've noticed is that soemtimes when you go back to the dashboard you can still hear it for maybe 15/20 secs, then it stops.

Has anyone else noticed this or is the problem unique to me lol ?

Is there anything I can do to stop it ?

Thanks in advance for your comments / help Smiley

Yep man, im using 47DJ, and i have the 111D too. Unfortunately everybody with hitachi (47DJ for sure) is experiencing this kind of noise. It is louder with some games and simply silent with others, i really dont know if the problem is the clonedvd or maybe the dvd brand..

Im thinking about buying a sammy and finish ALL my problems. Hitachi may be faster than samsung, but this clicks on the reading sux like hell..

You can fix it by restoring the original firmware.

Thanks for the replies so far folks, especially yours creatox, really good advice there, nice 1  Tongue

I'm also using a pioneer 111d sepz with clonecd and have tried Verbs / Bulkpaq & Traxdata media. The problem remains  Embarrassed

I tend to think this drive issue is isolated as I've been unable to find anyone else reporting this kind of problem either here or over at Xbox-scene.

But if anyone else's drive is behaving the same then please post below !!

Well. Since I have the 111d on the way and a DJ drive, I should bump this. Could very well be a fixable problem.

I have de same problem.
hitachi 47dj also (xtreme 1.3 installed with birdypack v2.2r3)
noise all the time, not only with Backups.
new garyopa 2.0(or 2.1) seem not to fix this problem, i think because it's not a new firmware for playing backup, its for reading SS file.
We will have to wait, till garyopa's 3.0 or new birdy's flasher
