Security Chip
«

Hey
Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anybody has dumped the security chip? Its the small black 8 pin SMD in the memory card and if so do they all contain the same data in each of them?
Thanks

Sorry
just wanted to know if the security chip was part of the usb spec. So that it might be posible to add it without having to solder it into a flash drive. Through the firmware or something.

Ehh... He is referring to the 8 pin chip inside the Memory Unit.

I did some tests some time ago, it's not a standard Eeprom. Looks more like a small uC which sends a couple of bytes to the main flash/USB controller.
When you remove this chip, the MU is not recognised anymore.
