Ok Guys I am no hacker, but really wanted to give something back to this site after all the help and assistance I ahve received. SO! I went out of my way and bought some verbatim discs (I thought it was the best of the ones I tried) and made 4 backups of the same game, 2 backups per drive ( a pioneer 110d and 111d) under 2 different conditions. To test how the backups would differ in loading on the hitachi 47D. I did this for 5 different games, so a total of 20 burns. The reason behind this experiment is that I realised I had to use different methods to load the games depending on how i burnt the discs and drive that i burnt them on. I also came across this site and I will use the calculator as shown to put forward further result in numbers: http://www.dvd-recordable.org/Reviews+index-req-showcontent-id-167.phtml.

THe main puposes of this site seems to be comparing dvd drives and media and giving result in a clear concise way with calculations. I however wanted to to something a little different. I wanted to see if burning the same reliable media (verbatim) with two drives that i have, under two separate conditions will affect the way in which they are responded to by my Hitachi 47d drive and the 360 loading process.

Here are the results:

Some conclusions:

1. Verbatim and Pioneer combination (110D and 111D) are both successful for backups.
2. Pioneer 110D is not as Effective as 111D, the 111D allows some games to start without any tricks.
3. Burning at a lower speed of 2.4x speed is better tahn the higher speed of 6x.
4. Last but most significant, the games that worked without any tricks in this case of 2.4x burnt with 111D were all non-region locked games, as far as i can see from lists on different sites.

I now only use my 111D drive for burning backup at 2.4x and most games work with no tricks.

Note; None of the drive firware have been upgraded all with original firmware.

What from here, I thought it might be interesting to use that calculator on teh above link in combination with DVDinfo Pro to read over all the disks and compare the backups by studying the burns more thoroughly. That takes a lot of time as this experiment did, so I wont promise I will be able to complete that.

Hope this information is useful, it certainly was expensive and time consuming in my part Smiley.

r u sure? i checked on decrypter and on dvd info and both said pioneer's not compatible with booksettings, well, maybe that's the reason why i can't chaange it since you said it's automatically done

but the thing is, blank medias here in brazil cost a loooooot more than over there, so I'm really concerned on trying it out without knowing for sure

i heard i can change the fw for a dangerous brothers version, in which book type is also set to dvd rom

should i burn the media with stock and see what happens or change the fw?

thx again  Wink

Yeah I listened but didn't come out that way. I bougth its which came with FW 1.19, burned it and came up with DL+R , then Flashed with 1.23 from pioneer web, burned still got it DL+R. Finally, flash with hack FW 1.23, burned and got it as DVD-Rom. I am not sure what happen but that 's kinda weird in my case

100% of my discs are booted up with insert the disc Power off/on
70% boot up with pushing Eject button to turn on then insert the disc right away

I burned 6 games so far and all work without using any of the HDD or AV methods.

I used this burner: http://dk.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=6&l2=35&l3=0&model=638&modelmenu=1

And this media: http://www.it-netsupply.dk/shop/default.asp?setlng=26&productid=43562

I burn the games with latest firmware from Asus homepage, latest CloneCD and speed 2.4x.

Im having trouble figuring out what is going on here???  Huh
Ive tried lots of combianations also, and ive not yet managed to burn any that boot without the reset tricks

Some1 else burnt a disk for me a while back and it works fine? its cheap CMC MAG media...

Heres my setup
Pioneer 111d with TDB 1.23 firmware
Clonecd 5.2.9.1
Hitachi 46 and 47 with xtreme 1.1fw
Verb disks burnt at 2.4

none boot ?

Ive found that if you get Dirty disk error (which i was getting with NEC) then the reset trick will never work, but if you get "open tray" then the reset tricks will work.

Is there anything else i can try?
other people are using the same setup at me and having sucess?

I remember the Cobra bios for the Cube.. every1 had trouble with different media and burn methods and they finally released an update which sorted every1 out in one update. lets all hope c64 will come up with something for us yet again  Smiley

First try one of your discs in a friends 360 just to confirm its your burner which all signs are pointing too.  But best to check and make sure its not your 360's drive.

If the disc does not work without tricks on your friends 360 Then:

Revert back to the 1.06 firmware.  Try burning again.  If it does not work without any tricks.  Take your 111d back and get a new one.  Don't update the firmware.  I've had 100% success.  8x verbs from supermedia store and stock firmware 1.06 for the 111d.  I burn at 4x, just to be safe but 8x worked with no issues.

Also what is the media code on your verbs?

I'M getting a major problem...nothing boots!

Situation and testing done:
Put Hitachi drive in Modeb via connectivity kit and Flashed my ver. 59 with latest extreme.bin. (from Complete.XBOX360.Hacking.Toolbox.Hitachi.Only-iND). Everything went fine...after a couple tries. I did nothing else but launch extreme file until all replies said ok.

Then I burned 3 different pre patched recent scene games using two types of verbatim dl+r @ 2.4X via clonecd and on two different burners (LiteOn 832S and BenQ1620 both in booktype DVD-ROM). I tried to play using all boot tricks with no luck. All have "dirty disk error". (except for my first one that I screwed up with by burning with Nero and it shows up as a music disk and xbox wants to play it with the music player-wierd...so that means XBOX is patched correctly otherwise it would not have been able to read the media at all???)

I am at a complete loss now with no idea what try next except for buying a Pioneer burner and reflashing the drive again. Could it be something else though?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Don't copy paste your question all over the forum.

if u have dirty disk it means it's flashed ok, otherwise ur disk would go to cd player in 360

buy pioneer it's the only solution buddy

Grin 16 backups made on pioneer/ridata so far, not 1 coaster  Grin

OK thanks Xandura,
It looks like a Pioneer 111D is the drive to shutdown my coaster making facility. Will update tomorrow on success.

Pioneer 111d arrived and now 5 backups working on Verbatim 8X DL disks :-) Made several coasters of the same game on Verbatim 2.4X inkjet printable disks however. Not sure what the deal is there. Getting "open tray" error but 2 of 6 work. Hmmm.
So the moral of the story: $36 at newegg for 111D  gets rid of dirty disk error folks.

Verbatim 8X DL discs?
Where do you get them because I can only find 2.4 Verbatim discs at shops in Australia is there any AUS online stores that sell them?

Mate,

Where in AUS are you? the 2.4x verbatims are not even sold in the up to date shops, for cheapest prices you can get 8x DL verbatims at the swap meet for A$4.5! i bet that is cheap compared to elsewhere or you can buy 6x same discs from JB HI-FI for A$5.30 each, not bad either.

Pioneer burns verbatims at 2.4x - 8X sorry for the confusion. Just be sure to get MK001 media code (2.4X). All my games are burned at 4X now and no tricks required to boot. Just put in and play.
