Hi peeps

Hoping some one is good enough to help me.

Today I have flashed 2 Hitachi 47D drives.

I used the method I have been using successfully from the start. I used the 47D C4E flasher and the xecuter connectivity kit.

After flashing I tried to boot backups and they both 360's refused to boot. I have tried at least 10 working backups doing the hard drive and AV trick. Nothing will boot.

Originals boot fine.

I was going to restore the orignal bins but after palying around have screwed them up.

However, I do have the keys stored for both drives.

What is the easiest way for me to get these drives back to the original state ? Also what could be the cause of the two drives not booting backups ?

Any help/info/advice thankfully received.

If you have bricked them due to bad flashes then the only way to recover that is to unsolder the flash chips and reprogram them

Hi

They arent bricked.

They still both play originals fine.

They just refuse to play backups.

Both of the drives now have a hacked but not working bios. I haven't got the original firmware for either drive but have the keys for both.

Can I get another 47D, backup the firmware and patch the key into the new backup and then flash back to the drives using the resore.bat ?

Or am I missing something ?

Cheers

Logically that sounds like it should work....

Are you sure its not a problem with the media...

Hi

Nope all verbs, done around 20 Hitachis no probs.

Unlike the other drives I have done these 2 stop trying to read after about 15 secs, when you do the AV trick neither kick back in.

Just opened another 360, bloody Samsung drive so I cant dump its FW

Is anyone able to create me two working FW's if I mail them the keys, theres a few £ in it for them ?

Sorry, moment of madness.

Right I have put my key into a Hitachi firmware I was kindly given.

Flashed it back no problem.

I have now tried to flash it again using the updated flasher (one that auto detects the drive and uses flash.bat)

This came up failed on one of the sectors. Follwoing the instructions I ran the flasher again. This time it finished successfully.

Again will boot originals but not backups.

After inserting a backup the drive stops after about 10 seconds of accessing, after the soft reboot (av/hd trick) it refuses to spin up again. Is this right ?

Cheers

If it boots originals, and all FLASH lines have completed 100%.

Then the drive has been flashed correctly and is working.

If it is not booting backups, then it could just be the media not likeing that drive.

Some Hitachi drives are very picky when booting games.

Try burning the game on a Fuji or better disc using the latest Pioneer burner.

Hi

Got one working that wasn't previously so this is where I am confused.

If it is all or nothing how come it wouldn't boot a backup before and will now. Both drives have always played originals Huh?

The drive I now have a problem with will boot a Verbatim dual layer movie in a flash, this isnt a media issue. I have the latest pioneer writer also.

When I insert a backup it only tires to read it for around 10-15 secs. If you do a soft re-boot it doesnt try again. Every other machine does. Otherwise what would the the point of the AV trick ?

I am really at a loss now. I have restored the orginal fw back, tried both the old 47D flasher and the new X-LG one.

Both to no avail.

I have now dropped the resistance on the DVD pot from 3.92 to 3.4 - Exactly the same

Dropped to 3.02 the same again

Originals fine - backups no go.

wtf is going on ?

Have no taken a known working laser from another 47D

Guess what - doesnt work.

So this proves to me the issue is not my media nor the laser. It has to be firmware related.

And yes, it still plays originals fine.

Weird.

Hook the drive back up to your PC, and do this command:

memdump H 12200 8 8000 test.bin
               ^
                |< Replace the "H" with the correct drive letter for your Hitachi.

Then email me the "test.bin" file, and I make sure the FLASH has worked 100%.

Your flashed drives are working fine.

OPEN TRAY means it is a backup but dashboard timeout before detecting media

Compare the "memdump" in your email, it is 100% flashed correctly with 47d "c4e" v1.1 firmware.

You will either need a better burner, or use tricks to start the game booting.

Have you tried turning on the 360 with the game already inside the drive?

Is this a CORE unit? -- They timeout faster then ones with the HDD attached.

Hi Gary

Machine is a premium.

I have tried all the methods to get a game to boot.

I have a Pioneer 111D and Verbatim discs.

This drive behaves differently when you do the AV or HD trick. Soon as the soft reset takes place the drive shuts down. Non of the other machines have ever done this.

That's exactly what my Xbox is doing.

Sodding typical.

Put a game in - it tries to boot - then takes ages deciding - I'll do the AV Trick - it just pops up a message straight away. :-(

Try the new v1.2r1 firmware, it is programmed with a fake eject you can try to use to extend the amount of time it needs to read the discs.

sorry, not trying to spam, but sounds like my original post belongs here, sorry

Im having the same problem, heres the info first.

dumped wxripper method
Lite On sohw-1693s

Burned Clonecd, latest ver
PIONEER DVD-RW  DVR-111D
FW (TDB) 8.19

Hitachi 46DG
FW xtreme-e.bin

Media
verbatim

Ive tryed backing up perfect dark 0 and burnout.  dumped the data w/wxripper fine, merged w/the ss(downloaded as there is no way to extract the ss w/my drive yet), everything in the green.  when i flashed the 360 drive it failed two times before it finally worked.  burned the patched images w/ clonecd @ 2.4x.  popped in the back up and got the "to play insert disk into a x360" error.  also, i tryed the HD soft boot trick a number of time but didnt work. dvd info says that the PIONEER DVD-RW  DVR-111D does not support bittsetting, but from what ive read over at cdfreaks, the drive automaticly changes the booktype on DL DVD+ROM to DVDROM.
The backups i burned on the  DVR-111D had the origanal FW ver @ time of copy.

any help would be greatly apprecited, tahnks
