I have sucessfully flashed my Hitachi and now I am doing my Samsung.

I am going to tell you the steps I take to see what I am doing wrong, since everything seems right to me so far.

I turn the PC on while the Hitachi is plugged in.. so it picks up something on the SATA channel (this is the only way I have gotten the Samsung to flash, since my bios does not pick up the Samsung at all...)

The bootup disk loads and I unplug my hitachi and plug up the Samsung, I run the code "mtkflash r /m orig.bin" , that goes well... I did this 3 times to pull the firmware 3 different times to make sure its being pulled accurately and sure enough it is. I open up the KDX tool, copy DVD key and then open up the xtreme.bin and insert the DVD key there, save...reset.

Now I run the code "mtkflash w /m modified.bin"

It flashes banks 0,1,2,3 then says Reset.... cool its done. I boot up the 360 and with any disc I put in, backup or Original.. it would give me the "To play this disc, insert it into an Xbox 360"

I have hexed the key in as an alternative and it gives me the same error. I have searched this site up and down and could not find anything to help me yet, from my searching all I found was that it had to be a problem with the key... which is why I have hexed and used the KDX tool with no luck. Thanks guys

What version of the firmware are you using? What is your key (to see if it is a valid key)? Try inserting the key from your hitachi drive and see if the samsun will work in the xbox the hitachi is in, thatll tell you if your computer may be having trouble extracting the key correctly from the samsung.

Using the package named: "Xtreme_Package-Toshiba_Samsung.rar"  direct from the usual source.

I just got done flashing it with the key from the Hitachi firmware and then put it in the xbox which had the hitachi, and still the same thing. I could flash it back with the normal firmware (the one I am using the key from) and it works 100% perfect.

How can I verify if the which I am getting is correct? BTW the key is "5D 3A 9F 53 7E 98 2B E4 CF BD 36 A6 AE 20 C4 EB"

Thanks for the help

That key looks like its probably right.

From my understanding, there are 2 seperate hacked firmware files, one is to connect the drive to the PC to be able to extract the security sector of the game and rip the game, the other is to play games. When using the firmware that was made to extract using a pc, all game discs will be recognised by the consol as DVD Movies, and all game discs ave a DVD movie file on them, which is the video file that says "to play this disc"...

So it sounds like you may have the incorrect firmware perhaps?

I am using the xtreme.bin not the xtrm0800.bin

This is leaving me stumped  Undecided

to use kdx1.5 for your key , you have to patch it to xtreme_proper.bin ,it dont work properly if just patched to xtreme.bin

You must use extremeproper.bin, not extreme.bin.  Also, KDX is not known for its reliability, so I would recommend you insert your key manually.  There are several great tutorials on how to do this.

Good luck!
