Pringle was the 1st to do it with a bit of aid from experienced members

A bit? people have told even the coordinates of the resistor.
Can we move this kiddy $#!t to xbox-scene please?

Sorry Geremia!

I do apologize if it sounded like we didn't mention your work!

I think i was just praising Pringle incase he had a brick being the 1st to do this with a new firmware ms28 and read it!
Could have been some problems with putting it back maybe!

Geremia i think has received many praise and will continue to do so whilst obvious is a master on this scene!
I wasn't exactly sure at the time other than the people directly involved the other day!

I have since read quite alot on the forums! we owe you big time! or this wouldn't work!
I do stand corrected, Geremia & Redline99 clearly paved the way for this method and more!

Its a nice little achievement found for the ms28's and confirmed this works, just happy we managed with instructions!
I think i noticed quite a few tutorials by yourself, and should be the one to do an official one if not too busy!

I think this is MS's way to fight back, and ms28's are gonna be popping up all over!
I could be wrong and it being random like others have suggested, but after doing many then hitting this drive!
The number is higher and suggest its more recent, it clearly wont flash the same exact technique as ms25's!

Something that causes this in the ms28's that people are refering to, must be the Status 51 to status 70
Status 70 is correct! so is it possible that status 51 can be exploited in other ways like hitatchi's methods to modeb!
Sure a bunch of software will appear or mtkflash will be adapted without the need to solder! Of course not forgetting
the bad flash recovery method! just detection never worked on this ms28 of mine!

Cheers m8!

regards

Ok, so is anyone thinking about porting the hack to this version of the fw?
this one appears, like many say, to not require updates, so that would be a plus

Huh?
This firmware has nothing to do with updates. The console doesn't care what firmware version the dvd-rom is for updates. Game updates are for bug fixes, console updates add new features and patch security holes. So I would doubt the firmware version would ever matter.

thought so too, but there is at least one who claims that a game (battlefield?) doesn't require an update using that fw o.O

THANKS AGAIN! BOW DOWN AND PAY HOMAGE! CONQUERED HERE ON THIS THREAD 1ST TO MY KNOWLEDGE THIS WAY!

HOO! HOO!
You managed to flash your firmware using instructions someone else provided!
And you suceeded! How unexpected! Shocked

If I were you I would quickly write up a tutorial, to document your spectacular achievement! Then post it over at XS!
Maybe you should start a new support thread here too..In case anyone else has a question about such a complex procedure.....

Oh Wait, you already did  Tongue

Don't forget to give credit while reminding everyone how significant this is! You will be worshipped as a hero and a god!

You're good, even with the cheapest solder iron's.

Make sure the tip is sharp, it's a really small nafty solder you'll have to make

after hours of trying managed to read flash, not sure how though, tried the 10 second trick , no good, tried soldering the 2 wires , thinking it would work straight away, no good , loads of messing about finally got it to read but won`t read again , main issue i have is that it states to not have wires connected whilst booting pc , but my bios will not recognise dvd rom unless wires are connected , any ideas guy`s ?
cheers

Your bios don't need to see the drive to be able to read/flash with mtkflash.

you are right stonersmurf about not needing bios to recognise drive , still not getting anywhere , when i switch on xbox without wires touching the green light in the center starts flashing and there is no way pc will recognise it unless wires are touched, i have no problems doing other sammys and hitachi`s, not sure if this matters but drive is dated may 2006

Turn on the xbox with out the wires touching, then turn on your PC and boot to dos. Connect the wires and run mtkflash. If your PC freezes during booting just leave your xbox off till your in dos and turn it on without the wires cross and connect the wires after you power on the xbox.

tried what you said , wires have to be connected initially for mtkflash to recognise drive in dos , but after it has been recognised then sometimes mtkflash will recognise drive with wires disconnected after xbox is turned off , very temperemental , i`ve tried various combinations, i get status 0, status 51 and status 80, i did however managed to get into writing mode only once but it froze saying updating 00% , luckily drive still works fine obviously not flashed succesfully though, this is getting very starnge

Why don't you try reading the thread before asking what to do...

Sorry

On another note, some at xbox-scene has confirmed reading/flashing a ms28 drive WITHOUT soldering.  He used the bad flash recovery method with the /sata switch using a VT6421L and hexedited mtkflash.

Will be trying this tonight!
