Go for it, I don't think the firmware is copyrighted.

So, is MTKflash the problem in reading MS28? Seems like it does some kind of check and fails when you try to use it normally but works when you 'bypass' it so to speak. Perhaps a mod to MTKflash would remove the need to disassemble MS28 drives?

Due to a same named FW on my hd i accidently upped the wrong FW My original FW is there now... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I thought it was prohibited... sry uberfry... make the compares, now u have 2 @xboxto Did you try different timings for flipping the switch ? I got it working all times, but only after mtkflash has already started and scanned the sata/ide bus. Also i'm interested in editing MTKFlash...it should be doable with soldering... since there are no HW changes....it's been stated before..

Not really The one Pringle posted is just the normal xtreme.bin with his key pasted in. Better remove it asap...

Just a thought, seems like a LOT of changes... Maybe it's just offset by a few bytes like some of the Hitachi fw's?

so it looks like the ms28 has all the latest patches included in that case!
with a ms25 you have to nearly update every game! some people have reported freezing and jerking ingame with the updates installed? not quite sure about that one! but if this is true then the ms28 more desireable to have i think! something could be obviously missing from the ms25 and when it updates parts of it something could be going wrong if people are getting problems!
Yet again most people dont know what media to buy! lol!
THANKS AGAIN! BOW DOWN AND PAY HOMAGE! CONQUERED HERE ON THIS THREAD 1ST TO MY KNOWLEDGE THIS WAY!

with so many differences, I'd like to ask both of you to re-dump it again after a fresh reboot and all and see if the files are different from your initial dumps. it'd be very unusual if they differed this greatly.
