i called both circuitcity and radioshack, and both act like they never heard of it besides one of them, how much do SATA cables run in stores, has anyone had luck finding them in their local stores, if so which ones. Do i have to pesifically ask for a 7 pin sata  or just say sata cable

if it's dvd +r only, then it 99% is not DL.. DL didn't exist back when there were +r-only and -r-only burners around.

SATA cables are overpriced in stores as bad as cat-x cable. When I was looking to buy one I called my local radio shack. The conversation went something like this.

RS: Hello, this is Radio Shack
Me: Hi, do you guys have SATA cables?
RS: What?
Me: Do you guys have SATA cables?
RS: I think we have a bad connection
Me: DO...YOU....GUYS....SELL....SAAATAA...CAAABLLLES
Rs: Is this for a computer?
Me: Yes, Serial ATA cable
Rs: I've never heard of that. How many pins does it have?
Me: click.....

You can get one for $5 online

and  this post First 2 threads" http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/117777

I also have a burner on my labtop brand new labtop the burner is a : Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-8335

you can see if you see that burner on the internet to see if its dual layer, I havent had any luck

You'll be wanting a different burner since you have an NEC. They don't work right for the Hitachi drives for some reason. The Pioneer 111d drive is great. You can find it online for $35
