In general you can only use specific WD HDDs (every with HDDhackr compatible) on a retail 360. This tool modifies the drives so that they can be used in a retail 360.
For the drive to be recognized by the 360, its serial/info must be changed and a signature file (HDDSS.bin) must be written/flashed to it. (If you have appropriate tools, you could probably flash any HDD manually with the neccessary data to be used with a stock 360).
The HDDSS.bin defines the size of the HDD which is detected by the 360. This file is signed by Microsoft with a key we cannot simply obtain, so we cannot just create our own to use any HDD with any size we want.
What we do is using HDDSS.bin files dumped from original 360 drives. But this limits us to the original 360 HDD´s sizes. For example you can flash a 320GB WD with a 250GB HDDSS.bin, then the 360 would only recognize a 250GB HDD. The biggest available HDDSS.bin is currently one for 320GB.
As said, you can use HDDhackr to mod a WD HDD for 360 using your PC but there is no tool to do that on a homebrew-360. It would be pointless anyway.
Cheers

if you make a hard drive with HDDhackr using a WD drive it works with both RGH/Retail console so no need
I was just remembering back to the Xbox1 days with my Xecuter X3 modchip that I installed to my console. There was an option in bios settings to set up a hard drive whether it was a large HDD or the small retail version. Also with the modchip bios settings you could lock or unlock the HDD along with using the FTP functionality to put whatever was required/wanted on the desired partition. I used this X3 Modchip numerous times to set up other HDDs for Xbox consoles in which I used a more simple modchip, DuoX2.
I'm sure there are many out there whom have a XboxLIVE console and also RGH/Jtag consoles. If we could use our modified console to create a HDD for our XboxLIVE console using a home-brew app....rather than having to take the hackable WD HDD to a PC and use the MS-DOS HDDHackr application. We could then use our modified console as an extravagant tool to accomplish this task. I'm just asking about this idea for convenience sake and ease of use. Needless to say, save a truckload of money to upgrade/add the HDD on a XboxLIVE console.
Like I said, I don't know if it's possible but would be brilliant app!
