bear with my ignorance but I was wondering if it would be possible to snif the commands
sent to the drive the xbox was sending while updating the dashboard and drive firmware,
and then use it to be able to flash all drives ? Does that sound like something possible ?

Hrm...I wonder though if an RGH or JTAG box could be used to do something like this though. It doesn't seem to be of much interest to the hacking community though. We're all concerned with what awesome things we can do with our xboxs, not game backups exclusively.

Get a SATA sniffer, get your DVD key, dump and decrypt the traffic and you're done. I doubt though that everyone that has upgraded to 13599 would find anything useful, as the MT chipset is locked for good.

Because as of 13146 9504 drives were flashed and then locked (MS panic button) to have write protect enabled...0225 and above have WP enabled from factory so the kamikaze hack is required to flash these drives. So the poster above is right in saying that this would only really work for phat console drives.I could also be wrong but a sata sniffer wouldn't work as the key is never transferred to the motherboard at any point and vice versa.I dont know much about crypto but im sure its a "session" key thats used in order to protect the system against the type of hack your mentioning...i could be wrong though. That having been said im interested to know what Xecuter fusions "Pair DVD function" will be.
