i have a jasper console that i can basically say is defective after the rgh.
symptoms: console worked 100% with no dvd drive connected. booted xell several times. booted ggbuild several times. both very quick to boot.
attach dvd drive, no more glitch. console has only successfully glitched twice since reattaching dvdrom and it was very random and took a long time to boot. also, the green light mostly stays solid even with dvdrom disconnected. sometimes after console sits for a long period the light will start flashing as it should. sometimes it will flash as if the dvdrom is ejecting then go back to solid. if the dvdrom is attached the center light will stay solid and flash correctly when ejecting but still the console does not boot.
xell does not boot, ggbuild does not boot, stock nand does not boot. all same symptoms.
maybe the "tray status" symptoms are just coincidence. however, it seems very strange it all started after the power was reattached. ive seen other people report a solid green light on their jaspers as well. anyone else experience this?

Oddly enough i to have the same problem, if i attach my drive the fan starts to spin in a very different mode. The same mode i got when my pad was shorting its wires. Not sure how the CPLD affects the dvd drive, but i can't glitch with drive at all.

Are you powering the CPLD off the drive cable?

During my research on my falcon, my RF board became damaged. I don't have the fans attached (I used external bench fans that keep it at 30 C) or the DVD drive so during all my testing the power LED flashes green.
After a while, one day the led just stopped flashing. The power button still works, but the light no longer flashes with the drive unattached. I have no idea if it still syncs, etc.
I assumed it got static shocked (though I'm usually quite careful with ESD) or someone else in my lab decided to look with their fingers. The other point of interest for me is this board is still wired for JTAG hack, using AUD_CLAMP and TRAY_OPEN. I thought maybe that had something to do with it, though I understand the circuits involved and there shouldn't be any way to cause damage in that regard.
That said, I don't see how the RGH could damage the the tray status tracks, the SMC pins they are connected to, or the argon board.
Only the BYPASS and the CPU RST should theoretically be at risk of electrical damage.
As far as powering the CPLD, my setup is very different than the common CPLD glitchers. I have a custom FPGA board, a second interface board with various level translation for POST, then the 360 mobo. The FPGA board and interface board are powered independent of the 360, only ground is common.

Never used the DVD power method, the interesting thing is that even if i dont have power attached to the DVD, but just the SATA - it goes in this loop again too and but boot i have to disconnect the drive completely. Really curios why.

i dont use dvd power to power the glitch chip either. but something is definitely damaged on the board causing the console to not start.

so just to update this, i went back to this console tonight after having set it off to the side for almost a week. installed a matrix i had put in another jasper to grab the dvdkey and this console fired right up basically. not 100% consistent but pretty close. power light still stays solid even with no dvdrom but the console boots ok.

Check the tray sensor or the PCB itself (if you tried kamikaze mod). If you are sick of blinking light just bridge points 4 and 6 and disconnect your drive.

just to post my experience .. i had a jasper CB6750 with the EXACT same issue ... it wouldnt boot at first so i put a 68nf Cap (683) on CPU PLL BYPASS and GND ...... so it started booting fine ... i put in the DVD drive BAM no glitch ... took me 2 days to figure out ... tried changing the GND wire to a higher gauge ,... changing lengths ..... in the end ... the problem was solved by putting a Cap of 680PF(681) between POST_OUT1 and GND .. console works like a charm now

jasper and trinity are a bit more sensitive to interference. wires length or position could have significant impact on boot time. dvd drive is a big metal piece and it could also effect the boot when it's placed back to its position after install. you'll need to adjust length of wires or position and even the length of the legs on cap or position/angle that you added to the glitch chip, to achieve a better and reliable boot. that will require some experience and patience.
