OK, so first I apologize if this is a repost, but i looked and couldnt find a post that answers my question....

What i have:
- DVD KEY
-Working Samsung m28 dvd drive

What i DO NOT have:
- working Firmware

MY xbox is a JTAG with the latest FreeBoot
BUT"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The samsung is not the original drive to that xbox, The original was a lite-on

MY Problem:
I want to update my Firmware as the old ixtreme firmware wasnt reading the newer games very well. (skyrim wasnt working at all. verrrryy laggy)
I wrote the key into the latest firmware and then flashed it.
My Jtag now boots perfectly but when i put in a Game it sais I need to put this cd into a xbox 360 console in order to play it o.0

I am Completely STUMPED

I seriously doubt that the firmware has anything at all to do with how well the games read.

replace the laser

you sometimes het the mismatched dvd key error when the laser is dead

if the game boots at all then the dvd key is correct.

if its a JTAG why dont you just get an external HDD and FTP the games over and play them from it lag free?

I had another xbox for my brothers to play with, that one broke (permantly;) )and my jtag has this problem. so i want to use that dvd drive in my jtag.

can i just put the dvd key on the original dvd drive form my other xbox (BENQ)

as this is a jtag it should work as long as the dvd key is correct right? I do not need to spoof?

provided the DVD key matches, you'll be ok to use any drive.

figured it out...

The dvd key on the drive was different than the one that was on the xbox, but it still worked for some weird reason, noticed it when i tried to flash the NAND with XELLou... i thought maybe the Flash was wrong. Don't know exactly what happened but now it works, and i feel stupid
