Hi All,

 I have a working design for an auto/manual speed control board for the Slim 360, it can be used on both the glitched and retail Slim 360 (it will also work on the Fat models too). The Slim 360 does run hotter than a jasper (about 55 - 65 degrees) and of course the fan does not spin all that fast due to MS trying to keep the fan noise as quiet as possible.

 The design allows a safe minimum speed at all times with the fan slowly increasing speed automatically to compensate for any temperature increase. The idling speed can also be increased by a small variable resistor that is placed behind the internal HDD plastic faceplate so that its easy to get at and out of the way.

 If there is any interest shown for this board then i will make a small batch of them. Price is expected to be below $20. It could also be used for the PS3 as well, (would require a little modding, or i could make the 2 different designs)

due to the fact that i really don't see microsoft checking the smc config's thermal targets (and subsequently acting upon non-standard ones), this can be accomplished by updating the smc config directly as its only 1bl-key encrypted.

that said, i haven't done this on a trinity, but i'd imagine it's nearly straightforward .. and until folks smarter than me decode flash controller spi sequences for the corona arcades, those boxes can only be thermally managed externally like your prescribed method.

<edit: standing corrected>

SMC is hashed, the hash check is done in CB which is encrypted by the CPU key. So SMC modifications won't work on retail.
To be honest, people really need to get over the temps thing. Xenon/falcon was a long time ago, and those crappy solder balls are long gone.
