Anyone tried a Western Digital SiliconEdge Solid State Drive in an older or slim 360?  Hmmm

a jtagged/RGH console can accept any hard drive

would be interesting to see if there is a good increase in load times etc using SSD

I seriously doubt it, since the 360 only uses SATA-1. Access times will be improved, but that won't make a huge difference at the slow speeds.

Also consider that Windows didn't really have full and proper support for solid state media until Windows 7. The 360 OS was built even before Windows Vista was released. Of course it will probably be faster than any hard disk, but it probably wouldn't be the best thing for an expensive solid state disk since the 360 OS doesn't have SSD optimizations, like TRIM.

Surely there are some differences between WD Hard Drives and SSDs making hard the way. Right now there are difficulties even for same Hard Drive but different series (BEVT, BEVS etc).
I already have flashed two WD VelociRaptor for me and a friend to ensure maximum performance available today for 360, playing online aswell, and I'm waiting for SSD upgrade too, but if today isn't already possible to flash any WD HDD I think we'll have to wait before see SSDs working.

I think it's overkill to use an expensive hdd in an xbox the gain in speed is just not worth the expense.

Loading times are 3 times faster than a standard 360 drive. I don't want to imagine with an SSD.

Yeah, but then you're playing with the possibility of their oversight in the speed thing.

The sole reason why there is no mass banning about non DVD drive things is that the issues are way too specific for them to investigate in a "mass" way (automatic triggering) but a lot of things can be analyzed in a case per case basis if they feel like. From minor low profile hacks to major stuff like gamertag hacking.

So while some hacks are quite stealth when you're out in the crowd, if a MS employee picks you for a detailed investigation you'd be screwed... lol

That's my point.
