Ive got a stock Xenon 360 that will not load the dashboard. it stops at the 360 logo screen on boot.

This system started to rrod on a friend of mine. Sometimes it would turn on for a minute or 2 before freezing. The last time he turned it on, he did the update that it prompted him to do, it froze in the middle of the update.

I replaced the xclamps and baked it and it no longer has red rings but it will not boot past the 360 logo. Ive tried with and without the HD, holding the sync button while turning etc. I burned the latest 360 update and put it in the dvd tray, booted with it, it recognized it and asked if i wanted to update.. it completed and rebooted and still stopped at the logo. If i put a game in the drive, it still stops at the logo screen.

Does this sound like a hardware problem still, or could it be from system freezing during that update? Would the dashboard update next month possibly correct it? If you have any ideas on how to resurrect this please let me know. Otherwise ill end up having it reballed.

It froze in the middle of the update. Now for all effects it's bricked along with whatever hardware fault it already had.

Just trash it. As I doubt MS would want to attempt repairs since it was tampered with...  Roll Eyes

Awesome !  So it was indeed flash corruption. Good it was not a problem that prevented it from updating. Nice to give things an life extension.

Now if it was something that completely blocked it from updating, the trash bin would be the place (of course remember to recycle things so don't toss it on the regular trash lol)
