I just picked up a Slim 4 GB from Target (Scottsdale, AZ), and it was a Corona. 9.6A on the power brick, manufactured in China on September 7, 2011.

I guess I'll be returning it tomorrow.

Haha, just noticed one of the Forza4 videos is actually called - dolby_corona. Its strange though why MS released a new revision when the rumors about x720 devkits are coming out everyday, i mean if they develop a new console they should be focusing on it 100%.

All just rumors, keep that in mind. Wink
According to recent system files, there is another one coming after this: Winchester.
It could be the 720 or a brand new console model, but it's probably just another slim revision.

Keep in mind also, the main motivation to a new hardware revision is cost cutting, and trinity and corona both seem to follow that pattern.

That doesn't make sense. If they release x720 they will most definitely cut x360 from the production line. Im kinda baffled why they will do so much work when there is a little over a year to the next gen xbox. Probably the HANA absence is a test for the new xbox.

No, just because MS stopped production on the original Xbox when the 360 was released doesn't mean they will when the 720 is released.

As Cory says the primary motivation is cost and the more you can integrate on the same processor die the less it costs to produce.

There is also the possibility that the current xbox live will be the environment for both consoles. They said they expected at least another 5 years out of the xbox 360. So they probably don't want people on 360's to feel like there in the stone age. So you can still speak to your friends or see what there doing while they are using the new consoles. At least tide them over until the price drops. :-P

Does the back of the console also say 9.6A or 10.83A and was this Slim a 4GB or a 250GB console?

EDIT: My MW3 console is a trinity.

I'm pretty confused. I have a MW3 console with 10A on the back but 9A on the PSU. It was made after august. Corona or Trinity?

All Slims that where manufactured after the 17th of august that i opened where corona Boards. Only exceptions where special offers like GOW oder some Kinect packages.
Even if u have the sticker with 10,83A on the back it is not 100%sure that you have trinity. You need to open the console to be sure.

On slims, we dont' bypass the PLL I believe

According to gligli's original textfile describing the hack, the reason why they didn't bypass the PLL on the slims was that they couldn't find the CPU_PLL_BYPASS signal anywhere on the motherboard. I have no idea how they found it on the fats (I wouldn't know where to begin), but I assume that it's there, somewhere, on the slims too. Does the slims have the same CPU as the fats? (or does it at least have the same pinout?) If so it should be possible to follow the trace back to the CPU on a fat to find the pin number, then see what that pin is connected to on a slim.

If all else fails, replacing the crystal with another clock source should be possible. I'm optimistic.
